Anything can be used as a weapon; when survival is at stake even sharpened lemon slices can be used to take down a fish for food, or a predator for protection. And here's the result; what could have been a nasty fish-bite requiring medical attention, becomes lunch and another day of survival for the tribe.

Salmon fillet, grilled, after having been marinaded for an hour in a mixture of sesame oil, white wine vinegar, soy sauce, garlic and ginger. Potato and carrot on the side, roasted in duck fat with garlic, salt, pepper and Herbes de Provence. Heated the marinade and poured it over everything as a sauce.

It's a shame the salmon didn't go crispy at the edges, which is my fault for taking it out too early. And it was meant to be served with sticky rice and some greens, but heigh ho. Don't think the lack of sticky rice was really too big a deal, but it would have definitely been better with some steamed broccoli or something like that.

bbq tonight. Fairly simple beef kebabs marinated in a bbq sauce with some bacon + eggs (not pictured) and onions. The vegie kebabs are pineapple, onion, tomato, peach and were very tasty.

SPAZTICK'S DICK-PUNCH CHEDDAR FUCKING BAY BISCUITS

    Biscuits:
    4 cups baking mix
    1 1/3 cup water
4oz sharp cheddar, shredded fresh because we're just a bunch of Martha fucking Stewarts here

    "Fuck You, Paula Deen" Glaze:
    1/2 cup melted butter
    1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/8 teaspoon onion powder
    1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
    1/8 tsp salt
    pinch pepper

Mix biscuit mix until firm, spoon onto a baking tray, greased tray optional (but not doing it is the equivalent of no-lube buttsex). Bake at 375F for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Melt butter, mix in spices, spread over biscuits as they come out of the oven.

    Suck my dick Red Lobster.

I fail at creating presentable food lately. Today I had bread dumblings under a mountain of mushrooms.... and bits of bacon.

Risotto with bacon and mushrooms. Mushrooms were a little overdone even though it had a mountain of butter and bacon grease in the pan.

    Where the fuck is Quarky?

    I want him back.

Got some good ideas for tests for the weekend as it will be spent at home just doing some overdue work and standing in the kitchen and testing new recipes.

I don't know why, but I always end up adding seafood to pretty much everything I do.

@Quarky: Post pictures goddamnit! It's been about 40 days!

    resurrection attempt!

Made food with a friend yesterday. Three course meal, with some fail on the dessert, although it turned out nice in the end.

    Starter: Pan seared scallops

Garlic and ginger infused butter with a splash of lemon and soy sauce with spring onions and green peas

Main: Saltimbocca with baked veggies and pasta and cheese sauce

    Dessert:

Norwegian dessert which was basically caramellized apples with crushed biscuits browned with some butter and a vanilla ice cream which was unfortunately a bit too melted, covering everything else.

There were also supposed to be a caramel sauce that I kind of reduced a bit too much so that it was almost a caramel. tasty, but not 100% :P

If anyone cares pizza was steak/onion/garlic/tomato/capsicum.
sauce was a 66/33 mix of bbq to tomato.

    Nice pizza.

Damn Hast, that Scallop pic is awesome. I am rather busy at weekends lately and will be for most of the year and it cuts in my cooking time.
Had a quick chicken wrap today and some cookies.
