Oh yeah baby, finally a centered start menu! Best windows ever!

I've been using it for just over a week now and, well, it's absolutely fine. Predicatably fine.
There are some rough edges, and none of the 'transient issues' reported seem to affect my specific setup, which is good.
A colelague had to rollback as he was gettign framedrops in FPS, due to the memory thing, but beyond that there is very little to report.
I quite like the curvey windows, and the new background, and the new start menu.
Maybe i'm some kind of psychopath.

Can't upgrade from W10 to W11, it fails during updating during the reboot part of the install. Comes to 48%.
Today I picked up a new USB drive and created a W11 install on it.
It fails with, this pc doesn't meet the requirements..
Why is it called earth, when it is mostly water???
So here's a weird thing.
I've been undervolting my 3090 for ages, just because.
Since upgrading to 11 i've not been getting the sort of FPS befitting this rig, and had put it down to shit drivers, weirdnes, or just generall Win11. Eventually the lack of FPS started annoying me enough to try to fix it (40FPS at 4k in FFXiV no thanks).
Long story short: Removing and re-applying my undervold profile in MIS Afterburner put 100FPS onto my game. i've gone from 40 to 144 locked at 4k fullscreen. and still keep the undervolt profile.
not sure what's going on, but in hiindsight, these things should be fiddled with post-upgrade.

Microsoft dun goofed.
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/mi...ter-22h2-gaffeMany of the users inexplicably offered the latest Windows 11 insider update were running 7th gen Intel Core processors (Kaby Lake), which are just one generation below qualifying for support by this metric. There were reports of 7th gen and 6th gen (Skylake) Intel Core processor based machines being offered the update and going ahead with it, with no known issues to date. Those with even older gen hardware appear to have had had less success with fewer update offers, and the chance of update success seems to be diminished the further a machine wanders away from the official supported specs.
Skylake scrubs though, I got it offered on Haswell!

Finally moved fully over to W11.
When I go to bed and shut down my PC.
Some minutes later, it is on again. Last night I had to turn it off 4 times and it drives me nuts.
After I shut it off the last time, I tried pushing buttons on keyboard and the using the mouse. Didn't turn it on again.
What can it be?

Wake-on-LAN potentially. Can be configured in your NIC's settings. Typically the BIOS also has an option to turn that off.
Windows 10 confirmed to now only receive security updates until EOL in Oct 2025.
