The account management is absolutely retarded. Wanted to make a new password and they forced me to use a space or a punctuation symbol. Which I never use in my set of passwords. Also you need to fill in two secret questions to recover your password, who the fuck answers those seriously. I've never been so enraged so quickly by a damn account management system. This game could be really cool, but I'm gonna have to agree that that units look retarded. Also, Empire At War was a pretty fun game even though the graphics sucked. If Petroglyph is just prioritizing gameplay or looks, thats fine with me.

Got an email from Trion about the 'upcoming beta' for this and as I had completely forgotten it even existed, got all excited again..
I like classic RTS games so I figure I will probably enjoy this. Click on their link which takes me to the sign in page.. Now I don't and never had play rift but I remember I had to create an account for EoN before for some reason. Wait wasn't that signing up for the beta? I forget.. Anyway, put in me email and it takes me about a dozen trys to get the password right. I'm then greeted with a notice saying I have to upgrade the security on my account (something I have literally never used) and it has sent me an email with a link that will be active for the next 5 mins.. 20 mins later and the email still hasn't got to me (and when it did over 4 hours later it was tagged as spam so I had to retrieve it from my ISPs spam filter, which takes about 15 mins). So after 3 trys I give up..
Try again this morning and behold! The email turns up.. It requires me to change my password and enter some personal info.. For an account im not using and probably never will I fudge the personal info thing and retype my (already complex) password.. Nope, it wants a new one, gives me the page again with all the field blanked out. I fill them in again and give different answers, but cant read the captca at the bottom of the page and request a new one, which reloads the page and blanks out all my answers..
So TL;DR.. Fuck you Trion, im no longer interested in your shitty games because you make it too fucking hard for me to become a customer.

I think the start of their company was some westwood staff but it was like 10+ years ago now so i cant imagine that there are that many there now.
I cant imagine a game that big is going to be any fun at all. Surely people will just form up a massive blob of units to crush every one else.
Actually I am surprised by how old skool red alerty it feels. Started the first mission but the servers are wonky and I got disconnected, was playing blacklight after that.Is it shit?
The best way I can described it. It is a sort of DOTA style squad RTS. You can call in reinforcements at certain drop spots. Have to take over resource caps to get more point to spawn in new stuff and all your units have a special attack each and you have some general powers that you can apply on your squad. Next to that it is just old skool individual (micromanagement) unit control. Take over points, score objectives and so forth.
The only bad thing I noticed now is the pathfinding, that is oh so terrible. But my expectation have been raised by 30 mins of play.
you mean like the Ground Control series and World in Conflict?
but then again - by the looks of the trailer it's a game where you move blobs of vehicles around. so i guess it's still and RTS and not an RTT.
Yeah, it reminds me of WiC quite a bit.
But more customization with what you can bring to the fight.
Also each person in a fight brings alot more. One jackass on your team can end you, not so easy to carry bads.
Account management is a fucking torture.
Tried all my passwords, then went to reset and can't answer my two crystal-clear security questions.
Fucking hell.
