installing multicore fibre optic cables gets real old when they are 24 multicore fibres with NO FUCKING NUMBERS on them

Had a customer contact me today, while I was updating his system he off hand mentioned that they have an alarm going off on their server, and its been going off for the last 2 years. Log into their RAID controller, missing drive....There is no face palm big enough...

Sometimes i just want people to be placed in a concentration camp and forced to learn and subsequently comprehend their past stupidity.

That being said we had a dead drive in a RAID array for a couple of weeks before we noticed it. We also have about 50 domain admin accounts on a network with 150 users, even I'm in the DA group and I'm just contracting atm.
Can't wait for this one because Fuck DellOriginally Posted by EntroX

Tried setting up Ghost Enterprise to image our 50-strong Dell laptop inventory, turns out the network drivers for Vista are shit and GUESS WHAT GHOST USES AS THE PREOS???
It appears that it's possible to create a boot disk with the Ghost client that uses a DOS preos, but for the actual client-initiated reimage task apparently there's no other choice. Which is awesome because with shit drivers the reimage task just hangs :\
Also the 1440 series of Inspirons are shit. We had Gateway M460s for years before it became necessary to replace them, and many are still running strong. Not even a year into their life cycle at our Uni these Dells are falling apart at the seams. iamdissapoint.jpg

how is it that people are "busy" and have one appointment in their calendar the entire week? And instead of suggesting an alternative time rather send a mail saying that he cannot make it half an hour before the meeting. :rage:

A new collegue just tried to adjust the mx-records for a client on the Exchange storage group....
I found out after he called me, asking what the POP-account settings for this client are because thats how corporate mail works...
Right? ... hello?![]()
I raged so hard at the guy that hired him...

So, I need access to a Sharepoint site to feed through change requests to the devs. Can't log in, told to call tech support and 'get access'.
Call tech support. They reset my password (which is tied to my Novell login), and I can now login to an access denied screen, yay.
Turns out the guy who sent me to the tech support line hadn't (and still hasn't) added me to the whitelist. So... no sharepoints for me.
Now... I don't know if you guys have ever multiboxed on a Novell network, but when you change your password, it disconnects your other logged-in boxes from the network. This is pretty fucking fatal to, say, monumentally large actuarial simulations, and even morewhen it leads to having to logout and in on 65 PCs.
I wouldn't mind so much, but we have a seven figure sum of IBM blades sat idle in the basement because Change Scares People, and they insist on using the heap of Pentium4s instead.
Customer: "Well we thought we had a virus on our system so our IT people added it to the domain and installed antivirus on the system"
Me: "Looking over the notes it looks like we suggested doing an OS reinstall since any changes like that would break our software"
Customer: "Yeah thats why i am calling we cant get your software to work correctly now"
Me: "Ship me the box, its $225/h for me to fix it, I will format the HDD reinstall windows, and you can expect to lose all of your data"
TDR "we said dont fuck with it, you fucked with it, now your boned"
