Just google it - our company has a script that launches the citrix xendesktop automatically - I wasn't involved in any of it so I can't tell you the exact app etc. but we do it (might even just be a windows thing not a separate app) - Can find out more on Monday perhaps if I remember.
    Ohh. google it. good plan.
    wait. thought of that.

Here's the problem: There are lots of shit solutions, such as ones which wit on windows. and very few up-to date network/zero footprint clients. Mostly they seem to have ceased development in 2006-2009.

Now, xendesktop is all well and good, but has system requirements higher than windows7 itself. So why VDi when you can simply run windows? Then you have the embedded windows clients. Installing/maintaining/running a windowsXP infrastructure to run a client on top to access a new infrastructure is utterly counter-intuitive.

Working on thinstation now, but i have a feeling in the long run - it will be faster / better to build my own Lcustom LiveCD and embed the clients.

I'm surprised it's this hard though.

Was scanning some stuff from a remote printer. Everything goes fine but at the end my mouse stops working. Cursor just doesn't move. Locked the PC and behold, mouse works again. Unlocked - no dice.
    WHAT THE FUCK HP.
Restarted and lost all open tabs on Opera because I had tons on one window and two on another. Restored only the second one.

Why? Wouldn't it be better to terminate the SSL connection in a http server? Or is it backend communication you are talking about?

The Citrix "VDI-In a Box" uses Tomcat as a presentation layer

So.. you have to dick about with certificates to get hand compiled thin clients to talk to it.

the "connection in a browser with Activex on top of Windows" works pretty well, but if i wanted to run a VDI on top of a windows box, i'd ...

Used Thinstation some time ago, though with Firefox in kiosk and Citrix plugin. Didn't have time to fiddle any more with it so just ended up with Wyse thin clients instead.

Does anybody remember the name of that site where one can order product based on users uploaded CAD models? Also, if anybody know of a good site where I can get an instant quote of how much it costs to print CAD. I had a site some time ago, but I can't find it again and Google just gives me old-era websites. This was a full web 2.0 website with complete ordering system and price information based on selected production material (ABS, Aluminium, etc.).

Interesting. We chose the HP All-in-one Z1 workstation. It looks nicer, good stats and AFAIK has the longest warranty of 3 years?

Due to conversion at work, my account info (e-mail, profile info, online learning, LDAP credentials, etc) is being migrated. Also, my badge doesn't work in the timecard system. And I can't scan my new badge barcode for my production tools. I have to manually type in my old employee ID. It should be fixed in only, what, two weeks?

In other news, I finally got around to setting up WPA2 at home. It was so stupidly easy that I can't believe I waited six years to do it. I am a bad.
