I signed up as kzig. Naturally, I created a suitably obnoxious custom paint job which had nothing to do with racing.

mine is just the ubisoft logo covered in blood and penis drawings
I grabbed it. Soloing now, I like the graphics and car. Slightly too slide-y but good. Not sure yet if there's "too little content for 20 bucks" though, and it's not really changed much. Dunno, I like it but I guess you can still get 80% of the experience for free with nations forever (though I never liked the dirt on a formula, vanilla nations <3 )
Yeah, join a server with a decent playlist and you'll also find that there are endless amounts of user created maps that are better than most of the official ones too.
alls i know is ive racked up a pretty silly amount of playtime in the space of 24 hours since buying it.
While I'm waiting for my money to clear on PayPal (yay debit cards) I'm left wondering whether I can use the login details I used for Nations/United and Forever. Anyone know? Also, has the Canyon handling changed between United/Forever and 2?
LOL SIGNATURES.
The car is a lot more slippery, as are the walls and non-concrete surfaces.
Is that compared to United's Canyon cars though, or Stadium cars? Cause Canyon cars have always been slippery.

Ahh, got the fastest time in the UK for the map C14, beaten the next best by almost a full second. Feel pretty good about it as I ran into the map the first time i played a couple days ago (in multiplayer) and it was tilting me massively (the narrow windy bit through the desert as well as the final corner that sent you off the track if you didnt slow down just enough). Spent 15 minutes practicing it and managed to set a decent official time - although my training time is almost a full second faster, but honestly I love the separation between official and training, it adds a whole new dimension to time trials. I can see myself coming back to it over time to try and push my official time closer to my best training time, which is gameplay that just wouldn't exist if the training time was official.
1500 skill points for a single map baby

Glorious, had our first TM2 session yesterday.
2 player splitscreen on a 40" LCD Tv for a couple hours, then set the stupid goal to get my rating below 100th place for vienna.
Goal was achieved around 05:00.
WTB 52" TV for 4 player splitscreen
Yeah totally, it happens to me sometimes too. It's that slight tinge of anxiety, because you only get one shot before having to wait another chunk of time. Really it's why I love the system so much. It adds so much to risk vs reward. eg Cutting corners ultra-fine becomes a risk not worth taking unless you're really confident with the track, as theres no point risking a kiss with the barrier just to shave off a couple ms, if there are other parts of the track you struggle with. I tend to want to aim for a strong finish rather than a perfect finish.
Right at the end of C14 there's a corner up a hill that if you go too fast on, you fly off the track. Keeping your cool on an official run that is going really well, and slowing down only enough to stay on the track without losing so much speed that your time sucks, is a real challenge that you wouldnt get from infinite official attempts. It's a skill to master in itself, of coping with the pressure and staying focused. I bet there's already thousands of instances of would-be world records getting trashed because the guy is like "omg im beating the world record ghost in official mode" and immediately smashes into the rail.
Oh bugger . only just realised you can race via other players ghost car rather than the shitty default cars on singple player events.
At least now i get to see what it is im doing wrong !!
