is world of tanks worth playing

If you plan to start on the NA server expect a shitty grind. The server is now so top heavy that once you hit tiers 4-5 you'll be bottom of the heap facing walls of Lowes and other heavies in every battle.

Without spending money on it its fun if you stick to the real low tiers (tier 1-3). You can get to tier 4-5 comfortably still but those are the rage inducing tiers for being consistently put into tier 7-8 matches making you want a better tank. Past tier 6 its a real hard ass grind. Unless your name is stromscion, and you unlocked the entire german tree, without premium.

In F2P mode, it takes about 3 weeks of grind, 3 hrs a day to get 4+ tier Vs...this can be converted to 3 Tier VIs if you only rotate through 3 tanks.


2 weeks of that, will be learning the map and making crude tactics for each. This was fun. Worth it alone.
Fun can always be had going back to Tier 3 and decimating noob players 3 weeks in.


With premium, take a week off that estimate. With competent platoon take off 10%.

If you spam after being dead, take off 30%...Yes, you can help them win/spot flanks/know when to cap, despite being called a "ur dead faggot".
With incompetent team, +50%-300% longer grinding.

Don't buy gold in bulk, miserly = not getting screwed on frequent promos.[CCP is downright stingy by comparison]

The game's population in a barbell. You have decent games as a noob then you get thrown to the people at the top once you pass the third tier.

I was able to pump 30+ shots into an IS-4 with a Lee due to the guy being retarded. All of the shots were at weaker spots(tread/base of turret) I did maybe 10% damage to him and earned next to nothing exp wise for my troubles. If you don't know the Lee is a tank in the center of the American line that unlocks mid level arty/heavy/mediums. It has a turret that can only rotate 90 degrees that's stuck on its right corner. The IS-4 has a full rotating turret and afaik doesn't move much slower than the lee.

If your the type of person who can stand losing because of team mates, not being in a big enough tank, or random number generators hating you. Have at it. Please realize when I say losing because of I mean it. Not the game being harder but walk away from the keyboard and get the same results difficulty.

Pretty much this. I play it when i don't want to immerse myself to much due to time constraints or the need to blow of some steam. Really didn't expect to stay with the game so long but its still good fun. Only thing i should look into more is platooning cause thats even more fun. Sadly most of my buddies quit.

The most frustrating thing about the game is your advancement depends on a bunch of droolers and of course glorious matchmaker. The gap between winning and losing is real big

It's either "oh I killed two tanks and got 450 xp because we lost" or "oh I killed two tanks and got 1200 xp because we won". I'm talking prem ofc.
