I ultimately don't like Dany's bits because she seems ruled by her minge and desire for sellswords.

Jon's bits... you know what, he's a retard but not a full retard. He's doing 'the right thing' all the way through, even though it conflicts with what everyone around him sees (because they are mostly terrible). He's just not the political animal that others are and he doesn't know how to 'play the game'. Dat fuckin Stark blood.

Jon is a nice, albeit slightly derpy, diversion from the usual characters. Dany is a just a dumb cunt who relies on everyone else not being a dumb cunt.

He's just super emo and moody all the time. He spends his days brooding about how his life is so sad and miserable (even though they're pretty awesome for him), while stumbling and half-assing around pretty much everywhere he goes.

Dany isn't that good either tbh

The thing is, he's not actually super emo... he's just 'aware' of the threat that faces the wall (more than most) and he's accepted the burden of leadership. While on one hand sitting in your room reading books and getting a good feed might sound pretty awesome having to worry about the defence of the Wall and all of your bros isn't.

He is really emo in the first book. In 2/3 he's a bit better, but book5 he's still pretty awful again i think.

So looking over these artist renditions of the characters as they appeared in the book: http://en.amokanet.ru/gallery/martin/martin.html

Is anybody else having trouble imagining some of them (mainly Tyrion, Joffrey, Jaime and Ned) as anybody other than their show actors? I had no idea that Joffrey in the books was meant to resemble one of the later King Louis royals than Caligula. Although Caligula is a far better fit...

For anyone interested in the brilliant Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings II (which is rather decent on its own), there's a Paradox Weekend on Steam right now, everything published by them is 50% off plus daily specials.

I'd recommend to wait until Sunday to see if CK2 (or any other game you might be interested in, EU3 is p boss despite the lack of GOT-mod tbh) gets a daily special and just buy it for 20bux if it doesn't.

Yeah, what Roemy said. It's a ham loaf wearing glasses that Stephen Colbert pretends is Karl Rove, as part of his superPAC/american campaign finance satire thing he's been doing.

Only problem with this mod seems to be that the rebels never give up. The only way to stop them from rebelling if you're on the Kings side is to assassinate the rebel faction leaders Even with 100% warscore for 3 consecutive years now (and with Storms End captured for two) Robert simply doesn't want to give up - nor does he stop "ruling" in Storms End.

Weird, haven't played as the Mad King yet, but both sides have managed to win in it the bunch of games I've played and I've seen AARs of Mad King players that won without assassinations iirc.

Nah, not as mad king - but as House Lanister. Since Tywin died in a tournament early on I figured I'd give supporting the Targaryans a shot. Waiting for Robert to die of old age atm - maybe that'll fix it

So anybody else got the feeling that one or more of the following are kicking the bucket in Winds of Winter?

      Spoiler:

    * Jon (he's already in doubt asto whether or not he lived at the end of Dance)
    * Stannis (About time for him to kick the bucket, the last legitimate Baratheon living)
    * Dany (I got a really bad feeling that Martin'd have her die during Winds as the big OMGWTF twist. I can't see her living to see the end of Dreams of Spring)
    * Sansa/Arya (Arya technically has died given that she's given up her identity to become a Faceless Man)
    * Littlefinger (Nagging feeling that if he's not going to be the ultimate winner of the Game of Thrones, he's gonna die trying. Sooner or later his machinations WILL catch up, Martin's made a point that all the scheming in the world won't save you in the end.)

Also, I think this guy is gonna win Song of Ice and Fire:

      Spoiler:

Tyrion. As remarked earlier, Martin noted he was his favorite character, and that he was the most morally neutral. The selfish and selfless end up deposed (Cersei) or dead (Ned) but those who walk the balance, seem to be the best off.

I kind of hope dany kicks the bucket. I hate her story and her character. But they would be a huge fucking disappointment since GRRM has spent at least a third of the series on her story just to have it all become completely pointless.

Lolling hard at the bit near the end:
      Spoiler:
"Sean Bean. The guy's a walking two-legged spoiler! He always snuffs it!"
