Apparently they had two prequel projects going at once.

The kept alive the more lame Targaryen one that will probably be Dragon Throne Game 2: Electric Boogaloo

The spinoff is co-created by GoT book author George R.R. Martin and Colony creator Ryan J. Condal, and is set 300 years before the original Thrones series, chronicling “the beginning of the end for House Targaryen.”
Colony was such a garbage show. This is gonna be a disaster lol

EXCLUSIVE: David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the duo who in 2011 launched the singular screen sensation known as Game of Thrones, have walked away from their much-publicized deal with Disney’s Lucasfilm to launch a feature film trilogy in 2022.

Benioff and Weiss were supposed to usher in the post-Skywalker era of the Star Wars brand with a 2022 new-start story that would stake out a new frontier for the era-defining cinema brand created by George Lucas. The Emmy-winning pair cited their historic deal with Netflix. They said their enthusiasm for Star Wars remains boundless but, regrettably, their schedule is full.
and some commentary from the Austin Film Festival where they said they dumbed down the show to appeal to "Mothers and Football Players" and that the series was like "a ten year drunk party" and how they "gave up ten years of their life"

oh and they had no writers room either.

Hey, looks on the brightside. With no new shows coming, maybe fat fuck will run out of money and finally finish books to put sirloin on the table.

Six months after the end of the most hyped pop cultural event in the last 10 years, and all I can think about the show is "meh". I'm betting GoT is going to decay into cultural irrelevance like Avatar.

Terminator has more cultural relevance then Avatar and made only a tiny profit. There are tons pf side stories in GoT universe, you just need a good script.

When was the last time a major money spinner had a good script?
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.
