Reading the posts above, I can understand how on E-100 or Maus for example, that spall liner could be situationally useful for third equipment slot. But for second equipment slot, isn't vertical stab worth taking more than vents?

Also on IS4, of course first equipment would be rammer. But for second and third equipment, won't vert stab + vents or vert stab + EGLD combos be both more useful than vents + EGLD?

I guess another factor could be the money ?
i don't know if ammo are "per gun" but the 10.5 cost alot to use, if the 88 cost like half the money, it could be an option.
Another reason would be that it's 0,03 more accurate but i guess that's too marginal to make a difference .

I would go for long 88 not because it is good but because when you get 105 you will never ever use it , so might as well experience it and side track a bit

0.03 is a substantial difference, though according to wotdb.com this is only a 0.02 difference, which still matters. BUT, I would say it matters less in the 0.26-0.28 range, then it does in the 0.35-0.37 range. Because 0.28 is already crazy good even at long ranges, while 0.37 is a bit haphazard already at medium ranges, and hitting small softspots at 50m is like rolling dice, whereas with 0.28 you're quite likely to hit 90% of the time even on a bad game.

    IMO.

The 10.5 every day over the 88 L/100, the 88 doesn't have the punch despite being super cheap to use (comparatively).

Go straight for the 10.5 don't waste the initial XP on the 88, the thing just works as a big panther II with the medium 88 buy only shines when doing ~400 a shot with very good accuracy.
The E-50 has the highest DpB for me by far (I don't drive arties much), more so than IS-4, ISU and obj. 704.

There's a significant DPM bonus to the 10.5, plus the lower reliance on repeat shots lets you get to cover while still delivering some useful damage.

The DpM difference isnt that great, but popping and shooting, so having greater alpha, is much more preferable to having to sit in the open longer to get more shots off.

As for cost effectiveness, the greater RoF on the 88 L/100 multiplies by the lower cost to equal about the same cost as running the 10.5.

I only asked is it worth getting the L100 to survive the rest of the grind. Its obvious that freaking gun from Centurion and Leo 1 is better. Having actual alpha on a med is ubersweet.

In short no, at least for the E-100. The long explanation is that if you're using the 150mm gun on the E-100 you really do not want to be shooting on the move. It's accuracy is only 0.37 and I really doubt that vert stab would make any kindof real difference on the move. Also the lower pen on the 150mm means you really really want to aim those shots. It makes up for all the disadvantages by having that massive alpha and useful he round, i.e. you see a is-7 and you can only shoot the turret, switch to he and do between 350-500 per shot.

Wait, I thought the way vertical stab works is by reducing the aiming circle by 20%, whether it's on the move or stationary? Therefore, because your aiming circle starts out 20% smaller, it takes 20% less time to reach smallest aiming circle, isn't that how it works?

If that is true, and in situations where you can only spare one equipment slot remaining on an E-100 and your choices are between a vertical stab, an EGLD, and a vent, wouldn't you want vertical stab instead, especially that it is pretty much better than EGLD even when the tank is stationary?

Forgive my misconception if that's not how vertical stab works, though.

Your max dispersion while moving/turning turret gets 20% smaller, but the time to minimum dispersion remains the same. This creates two separate time vs. accuracy curves (one for vert stab, another for EGLD) which do intersect at some point, but the EGLD will always get you to minimum dispersion faster.

I actually really don't like the IS-7 so i can't really offer advice.
Seems to be my advice for everything but "play it like a large medium".
Some say that you can bounce shit in it but i don't bounce anything and neither do the IS-7's i shoot at. Meanwhile IS-4's bounce all day long.
Hell i bounce more crap in a T30 than in an IS-7.

Yeah that's the problem for me
Plus, because of the speed it's S-70 is actually less accurate, I thought of trying EGLD+vstab combo but I cba any more, fuck this tank.

    IS-4life tho
I almost said that IS-4 is the most op tank ever but of course it can't be because chaffee still holds that title
