    After listening to the M18 circlejerk I have decided to revisit it and get my abysmal win rate above 55% at least.

    I hate Assault. And especially on Prohorovka- it's a decent map on standard, but it's utter camping attrition shitballs on assault.

    I find the assault and encounter maps less infuriating than standard maps when averaged. Artillery and heavy tank players really show how amazingly awful they are on encounter maps but otherwise I like them. This is coming from someone with below 800 efficiency.

    I was one of the people really looking forward to the new attack modes.
    After a few weeks in i have to say that they are a big reason why i dont feel like playing too much atm since they drastically amplify the biggest issue wot has: its players.

    In assault i can be 80% sure that my team will suicide lemming. In encounter they all lemming or camp in a0 totally useless. It is just frustrating times ten compared to the old random battle mix since the morons shine even more.

    Well the thing is that it just increases the chances that you'll be in a bad situation. Being on the attacking side in a TD, or being on the defenders in a scout or medium etc. And just the whole proscription of you have to defend or you have to attack. It reduces your options in one of those games, you can't play the way you want to. Added to the fact that the maps don't really work when the game is flipped 90 degrees. The flanking zones or hills on a lot of maps are all messed up, and often one side starts in a measurably worse position where in the standard mode with north-south spawns that the maps were designed for they're usually pretty equal.

    Also, the fact that you can't choose what mode you want to play, it's completely random. And then they have some maps that are played in both modes. I find myself out of sorts quite often playing Encounter or Assault, because i've got this muscle memory of where to go in a map at the start of a game from having played each map like 250 times. I set off in a direction that I would normally go and that gets me to a good spot, and then I realise halfway there, oh wait, the enemies started in a completely different position, now this spot sucks. And then you finish that game, and your next game might be the same map, but back to the standard mode!! It's really discombobulating.

    I mean sure, you don't want everyone to get so completely set in their ways that they do the exact same shit every time, but I mean there's certain strategies that work well on each map usually. Of course people try crazy attacks and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. But don't flip the same map around from one game to the next.

    And yeah, pubbies have no idea what to do with these modes either. Himmelsdorf encounter just devolves into a huge clusterfuck on the hill, with a few strays trying to cap, whoever wins the hill fight then rolls down and finishes off the people below. But it's basically made most of the map not used since the teams start so close to each other.

    Prohorovka assault is exceedingly shitty. All the defenders have to do is camp under the railway tracks and shoot the underside of tanks as they try and come over- they will usually make it easy by coming in ones and twos. It's just a boring war of attrition until you have an advantage and then you roll over and win. Unless the defenders suck, i've only seen a full rush right at the start win for the attackers on that map, but that's pretty hard to get pubbies to do. After all, if you rush over the crest and no-one else does, then you're fucked.

    Campinovka assault also seems pretty bad for the attackers, they're uphill all the way so they have no speed at all, and there's no cover once you get spotted in the trees. All the defenders have to do is spread out a bit and wait for the attackers to trundle uphill into their guns.

    Karelia isn't completely awful on assault, there's plenty of cover, and you can take the battle to the attackers if you're defending. But it does cut out that whole focal point of the magical hill and heavy slugfest down that valley.

    Sand River assault is decent, the dunes are good cover and there's room to move around and do stuff. It still places a stricture on what you can do though.

    Honestly, the implementation is just shit currently. They need to make new dedicated maps for the new modes, and let you choose between modes rather than it being random and it all piled in together.

    E-50 is sehr gut. Even with 88 a terribad like myself managed to stay above 50% solo. Loooong 88 improves that. But tank really does start existing with L7. Tbh I had the engine from E75

    That's how it was for me until I got the top gun. I think most of my kills are ramming kills even with the top gun.
