Tier 7/8/9 is the sweet spot for me.

All my 7s have been seeing lately is IX/Xs 8s are even worse.

After having a go with the new balancing you should see a improvement. You'll probably still see Tier 9s on occasion but shouldn't as much.

I thought the whole tank philosophy was that russians were to be the heavy hitters at short range and unreliable at long range.

I am confused! The gun might be better on the T110E5 or something.

E: Just researched this gun and, I dunno maybey something's wrong with the server, but last few games some shots are wavering off. It's worse then when I used the previous gun. Accuracy hasn't improved imo. Close and medium ranges are good. Long range is quite horrible

But M103 still greater than IS8. It has gun depression with 2nd turret...changes shitty maps into track and racks. Sure the IS8 can facehug and solo full-health AMX50Fochs, but that's only because Soviet bias.

These days I always find I enjoy the 'next' tank more, and don't play the old one any more, trying to establish if the is-7 is worth it, since imo the is-4 is a piece of shit now, and the lack of gun depression with is-8 is starting to annoy me...

Felt the same as the IS-8 tbh. But according to wiki, it's actually 1 degree more gun depression on the front/sides and 3 less depression when aimed to the rear.

IS-7: front/sides:-6/+18, rear: -2/+25

Be aware though with 7.5 on the test server, mm spread is lowered and you'll be facing mostly 260+ pen guns on all heavies/mediums and ~300 pen guns on the TD's. aka, armour doesn't mean a thing. IS-7 is just as squishy as is-8 vs those guns.

f.e. I two shotted a T30 that was hulldown through his mantlet with the T110E4 (turreted tier 10 td). It was a bit lucky (50% chance of penetration) but it does paint a picture.

Did not like my is-8 so sold it, but seeing how much I have died to them lately I am starting to thing they could be just fine in fact. Some ways even more dangerous than e75 for example, that is-8 gun really hurts and they move pretty fast. Also armor seems to bounce pretty decently.

But if your facing the Maus or E-100...then you should be golden in an IS-7. You can bounce E-100 shells all day long so long as your pointed at them. Maus is still good chance of bouncing. And you can even get under their guns, lol. Only way those tanks will give you trouble is if they are good players who know what they are doing. And you will know pretty fast if they are good or not.

Out of 16 tier 10 vehicles you can encounter 2 might have trouble with your armor. Out of 16 tier 9 vehicles, 3 will also ignore most of your armor. Tier 10 vehicles will be facing tiers 8+, 9+ or 10 only with the new battletiering system.

You'll probably get some more use out of your armor compared to is-8 but it won't be much.
