Battlefield 3 - Clearly wanting a DayZ mod

Reddit has gone absolutely pitchfork and torches crazy over something, possibly day one DLC, but i'm not entirely sure.

Is there any news on whether commanders will be back in the game?

Two things have been established:

Demize99: The Physical Warfare Pack is fully exclusive. There's no other way to get those 4 items.

it really depends on if the items are really unique or reskins of some other weapon with the same stats
look at the SPECAT dlc for bc2, you cant get those weapons any other way but they are just reskinned versions of normal weapons so who gives a fuck

it also says the shotgun there is a day1 unlock, which implies you can unlock it another way
i wouldnt be surprised to see another LMG with the exact same stats as the Type 88

You also get the Karkand pack which contains 4 maps off Battlefield 2 which if you don't purchase the pre-order you will have to purchase separately. It is a simple stunt to get more people to pre-order as they will otherwise miss out, or so they say. I don't see anything wrong with dlc in general if they are not overpriced and/or should have been in the game in the first place (I'm looking at you black ops) but first day dlc just comes across as oh hey we could have included this with the actual game but decided you should pay for extra for it because we don't care about your game experience.

Also in before everyone needs to have Origin running to play it on the pc.

It's especially galling as Karkand is easily the best map in BF2 imo.

I don't have a problem persay with pre-order bonuses, but bonuses that you can only get from pre-ordering - i.e. stuff you can never get once the game is released - is pretty annoying.

The pre-order sniper flash suppressor for example is "the only sniper rifle flash suppressor in the game", which means if you don't pre-order you'll never have any form of it. I don't know how important this will be in the grand scheme of things, but it could be a significant advantage on some maps.

Amazon.co.uk limited edition pre-order says it has the multiplayer map pack as well a bunch of BF2 weapons & vehicles. It also says you get the back to Karkand map at no extra charge, as though I should be grateful.

The flash suppressor thing is supposed to be for close range sniping, so it cant make that much of a difference to gameplay.

edit: pretty confused now, that website says the extra weapons are only avalible on game and game station but amazon lists that it comes with weapons aswell, derp

Woot got BFBC2, & was happy to learn it forces me to use punkbuster, because it's clearly still 2002. Have yet to be able to play because regardless of what I do "communication error pnkbstrA.exe" pops up. All my excitement for BF3 has gone up in smoke.

edit: fixed. Turned out mcafee (which I thought I'd uninstalled) was blocking it. Alas, playing is just reminding me how shit at fps' I am, further sapping my interest in bf3.

Generally about two seconds after you started firing and one second before the guy could die.

tbh I liked the vss, just couldn't kill anyone in softcore that handn't already taken a grenade to the face.

Oh, and BF3: gonna be terrible with all the DLC and completely unbalanced weapons. Also proning snipers. Maybe a 30x zoom for them for $5 extra. Hell, let them play from the next map and shoot you in spawn.

If I remember from BF2142 which had pretty big maps + proning 3xZoom snipers, most of the maps are built up enough that you rarely got sniped, wearing heavy armour meant to you could take 2 hits from the best sniper, which was more than enough to run and hide.

That said BF2142 was an amazing game only hampered by a truely hilarious ream of bugs and exploits.

VSS is awesome for getting kills with. It's got decent damage and a very high ROF. Even with the 20rnd mag it produces kills very reliably.

I would totally buy if DICE decided to make a BF 2143 or another sci-fi related battlefield.
