Hopefully this game has recoil similar to BF2, I liked that you had to burst fire and in the case of lmg's, saturate the area that the enemy is in, BC2 wasn't enough recoil for my taste, the lmg's ended up like fucking snipers. Same recoil, similar squad system and better hit detection (which was a crutch in Bf2) and I'm a happy player. Though I am dubious whether recoil will be anywhere near as high as it was in BF2 seeing as this is a game thats also being marketed to consoles...

I've got about 1,300 hours in BF2 (why are we bragging about this?)

Yeah, though BF2 had some issues too in that regard, with the single-shot "PKM snipers" and so on.

Erf, I signed up via the ea site, just noticed that if you're a veteran you can get in to the alpha, you need 2 games to get veteran, now I just need to link my xbox and PS3 ID's

Apparently you need 3 BF games or something, I don't know if it gets you in for sure or if they just prefer you

Does this mean i have to install the games from CD's and link them to Origin, because they don't show up there.

Go to redeem product code and type in the CD keys of games you owned before origin came out. Older games like BF2 and stuff dont seem to work though.

Q: Can I join the Battlefield 3 Closed Alpha Trial?

A: The Alpha is a closed test and by invitation only. If you'd like to have a chance to be called upon make sure to register for our newsletter and ensure your Veteran status is up to date.
From their Alpha FAQ. Made sure to verify my email and sign up for the newletter. What's veteran status 5? That means 5 games owned from the series?

My email hadn't been verified yet, I just did it a few hours ago. I've got my fingers crossed.

There aren't enough actual Battlefield titles in the series to qualify.
