there's a fix of sorts for it, involves renaming some origin files. i shall go digging
ed-can't find. it was an origin problem though, not BF3 per se

Sounds plausible because I tend to not turn my laptop off very much, but I did fully turn it off and back on again to see if that would help and it didn't.This with emphasis on sleep/standby. Origin can not deal with that.

EDIT: Just checked. When I try to join a server, BF3 pops up under processes after a minute or so and hangs around 50k memory for about two minutes before the "game manager" tab thing in the web browser suddenly vanishes, along with the BF3 process in task manager.

^ yeh that's what i had a while back, it did take much furious googling the first time around to find a fix, it's definitely an origin issue though
in BF3 related chats, why does no-one use smoke nades? got on that normal 2-1 stalemate on metro (doing boring weapon stars, don't hate) and i managed to get past the chokepoint solo with much smoke spam, only to die trying to cap the flag solo because no-one else had enough internet balls to move into the smoke. this must have happened 5 times in the same round ):
I hope it's that simple, because I spent a couple hours yesterday with 3 different live tech people from EA and they had nothing helpful for me (re-installing origin didn't help).
Smoke grenades are some of my favorite, I used to use them a decent amount in BF2 when the Assault class had them (might have been Medic though) and again when Support got them in BF:2142. Some times assaulting Titans or getting past chokepoints on the city maps were only possible with smoke grenades.

i think it boils down to renaming some files so origin doesn't do something/has to download something or forcing an origin update. include ME3 in your googles, i know the same issue hit them
