"We say to Mom that you tell us the wrong name, and we'll bring that guy in and we'll do a blood test and that's not Dad, you lose your welfare benefits,” he said at another event that same day in New Bloomfield. “You lose your welfare benefits ... Not till you tell us another name, but till we find out who Dad is, we establish it."

To be fair, its from the 90s...a crazy time for many of us.
To be accurate, he has said many crazy things about women and their place in society, for a long long time and repeatedly. There comes a time when you have to conclude: "He doesn't say these things to connect with some extreme 'A woman's place is in the kitchen crowd', no, he actually believes all this himself; he is part of that crowd. And if you look at all the other things he says, or has said, it becomes quite obvious really. Santorum is one of those Republicans who'd love to take the US back to the 50ies, that is, their idealised version of the 50ies. The rest of us remember the horrors of the McCarthy times, the segregation, the paranoia, and so much else,or have at least read about them. But to these Republicans it is a sort of golden age. I think all the Republican candidates suffer from this affliction to some extend, but really, Santorum is the most extreme example of it. Which is why he lost so much of the popular, minority, and women's vote. He says what he thinks and believes in, and what he thinks and believes in is utter rubbish.

Well so far in these primaries the Republicans have massively alientated women, muslims, gays and latinos, non-christians; the black demographic was pre-alienated anyway, and that leaves them what? Angry white people and maybe some aisans who haven't (yet) been specifically demonised. Gingers?

Assuming Obama is smart, he'll toss in another bananaskin opportunity to get them to say something dreadful about chinese/japanese-americans.

Agreed. An Obama v Santorum candidate debate would be the greatest show on earth.

That wouldn't be a debate, it would be a verbal ganking on live tv

Obama - Romney debate would be great to watch too. It does not comes across well yet just how wooden and unnatural Rmoney looks, simply because he's so far debated opponents even worse than him.

Using the "ganking" analogy, Obama - Romney would be like industrial full of loot being ganked by a Machariel

    (because machariels are brown)

i am also laughing at southern evangelical godsquad christians.

when Romney gets nominated their two choices will be:

    A. A black man who was born in Kenya

    B. A man who wears magic pants and who's religion began when an illiterate man translated a pair of gold plates with magic spectacles

    who do you vote for?

    haha

Was more entertaining when I could assume mormons had magical underwear. Now I know it's just a unnecessary and bigoted statement against an easy target for criticism considering there is plenty of real reasons to make fun of the religion.

mweh is that all? In that case the same can be said about jews, muslims and the magical catholic dresses. Most religions have some sort of dress code theirs is just a tad bit more extreme since you wear it 24/7 and not just on sabbat or during temple time
