Yes and no. According to what I read condoms fail in cca 15% in typical use and 2% with perfect use while for hormonal birth control that is they list @ 8% and 0.03% respectively. So in normal day to day you get half of condom unwanted pregnancies while in a perfect world you do actually get 100× less unwanted pregnancies. All though im not sure how much i can trust those numbers.
Wtf is this "typical use" which is apparently completely head on pants retarded use? I've seen figures around 3% failures for the most part, and that includes people failing to use them properly, instead of the product itself failing.

But pills do fuckall for std's and people both men and women are some proper whores these days so it's only going to get worse. Since we're talking about the states here, apparently some 20mil people (in US) are affected by them each year, and they cost some 14bn $ a year to treat.

I'm not arguing against "free pills" as such, just saying the same logic regarding health benefits could be applied to any number things. And that if "free pills" reduces condom use it also increases std's.
I'm just quoting you public available figures. But for anecdotal evidence I had 2 condoms fail on me and they were used without fail so I fall in less then 2% category :P

And the Obama campaign delivers. THIS is how you do the attack ad.

Romney better nominate someone for VP to shift the conversation, otherwise he is dead in the water. The unwillingness to release taxes is bad enough (because it looks like he has not paid any for at least a couple of years).

But this Bain Capital stuff is brutal. If he was active in management after he "retired" in 1999, then he is responsible for all the shit Bain did at the time. If he was not active, then he lied on his SEC filings, which is a federal felony.

Also turns out he will only release one more well touched up tax return. Going back 10 years would also show the final years of possibly being involved in Bain.

Talk about a train wreck in slow bloody motion.

    p. good article imo, with the added caveat of this strategy being inherently less effective against an incumbent candidate than against someone 'fresh' like Romney.

Good. Let him flounder. Of the names he put out there they are all terrible news and mostly a return to the bush years.

I've been following this 'attack' strategy by the Democrats for a couple of weeks now, and I must say it is very well orchestrated. Patiently prepared the ground, some hint dropping left and right, mentioning tax-returns and Bain left and right, then Whammo! SEC/Bain bombshell and 'more to come'. Well played, you'd have to admit.

Remember how, just a couple of months ago during the Rep primary debacle, we were saying: wait till the Democratic machine gets rolling once it is clear who'll Obama will run against. Well, it just got rolling, and it is copying Karl Rove's playbook down to the last footnote almost. And it seems the Democratic machine has got so much amunition on Romney, they can get it going early. Earlier than I thought at least.

Frankly I would have thought they'd very slowly ramp up the pressure throughout June/July and even into August, to basically peak at Tampa. But no, Romney is just barely getting out of the gate (cashing in furiously obviously), and he's already getting one right smack into the face. Right on that chisled jaw! And look how he's floundering already!

And the response? Obama should apologise! Hahaha, that was a good one. Yeah, sure. How's it feel like being on the receiving end? I can imagine Kerry walking around with one feindish grin on his face right now!

Meanwhile every talking head on TV, desperate to find something to talk about in the cucumber months of political news, is speculating furiously and feverishly about what Romney could possibly be hiding in his tax-returns, in his offshore accounts, and now with his supposed non-involvement, fully paid for years at Bain. I mean seriously, even if he came clean on all that (which I doubt he will be able to) he'll just be running along on the Democrat's merry-go-round! And a counter-attack now? "What's he really hiding that he has to divert attention away from through even more attack ads?"

I hope those new guys on the team know what they're doing, because this fish is flopping around on dry ground right now, and this will stick around for the entire race. Romney swissboated in July already! Who'd a thunk?

BTW, is FOX still running with the 'it is indecent of Obama to ask for Romney's tax-returns?'-spiel? Guess they're silent on the 'Obama hasn't really been vetted' thing then.

Maybe they should ask for the Presidents long form birth certificate again just to make sure?

The best FOX managed to came up so far is: "Well, John Kerry's wife is also rich, and she did not have to release her tax returns either...". I guess Teresa Heinz-Kerry is on a short list of VP nominees.

    Romney - Kerry's Wife '12 !!

Perhaps she can teach Romney a bit on how to react when you're swissboated.

It seems a couple of lessons may come in handy right now ...

Destroy your opponents credability early in the race before he has a chance to establish himself. Pretty effective strategy. As mentioned in the blog above, the Democrats are trying to define the narrative that Romney can present of himself, removing his greatest strength and using it against him. Of course theres one big difference between Kerry and Romney; the Kerry Swiftboating was a blatant lie, Romney has dug his own hole.

Until I read the last 20 pages of this thread I honestly didn't think Ron Paul supporters were a real creature that existed. I mean really, what the fuck?

Wait, you're not seriously surprised at the amount of stupid the human race is capable of producing, are you?

Hey, Quishon, I know you're, like, all opinionated on this shit, but you know how I didn't bother to respond much other than saying "this is why we should leave women's health issues to women and doctors?"

Allow me to clarify for you:

    http://articles.latimes.com/2012/feb...sited-20120220

    http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-contr...-take-the-pill

Taking oral contraceptives (OCs) can slash your risk for both endometrial and ovarian cancer by more than 70 percent after 12 years; even just one to five years may lower your risk by 40 percent.
When you're on the Pill, you don't ovulate, so your uterine lining doesn't build up as much. In fact, you don't have a true "period" during the placebo phase - just withdrawal bleeding, in which your uterine lining breaks down in response to the drop in hormones. So most OC takers bleed less for a shorter time, and have little or no cramping.
Hormonal shifts during the second half of your cycle are the main cause of PMS symptoms. The Pill can provide relief by steadying hormones
Endometriosis, a condition in which uterine-lining tissue grows in other pelvic areas, can lead to scarring, severe pain, and sometimes infertility. The Pill stops the growth of tissue in other areas by reducing the hormones that cause the lining to build up.
This is why you're an ignorant douchebag. You don't have a clue what you're going on about but you have an opinion all the same. This is hormonal treatments for women's health in general we're talking about. This is why people attempt to bludgeon it into your meat brain that it's not just condoms and goes beyond basic contraception.

But do carry on having opinions on this matter.

PS if I didn't read something you said acknowledging these facts then I apologize for my rudeness and you can feel free to point to it and negrep me. Otherwise I maintain my asshole tone.

recent studies have shown that you don't actually reach full mental maturity until your late twenties. I think a lot of young people are taken in by Ron Paul's ideas simply because they don't have enough experience with other humans to know why they don't actually work.

I did acknowledge it (obviously, as even if I was as ignorant as you think I wouldn't post before at least a cursory look at the facts on a subject), but I did it in terms you would consider or at least interpret as dismissive to such an extent, that allows you to comfortably keep your current opinion of me.

PS. I'm not the kind of childish and small soul who does revenge neg repping, I leave that to the kids.
I also hope the irony of combining "you're ignorant and opinionated!" & "if I didn't read" in the space of just a few lines, was done on purpose. Otherwise....otherwise you're simpler then I had hoped.

Of course I did it on purpose because admitting otherwise would reflect negatively upon me.

This topic should not be about 'birth control' at all. It's about women's health and framing it in terms of pills vs condoms is the problem as framed by the likes of Limbaugh. If you were to speak to a single person with a vagina between their legs they'd have told you that the premise of the debate you're having is terrible. If these pills stopped men from feeling like someone's sticking a knife in their crotch and bleeding through their dicks it would never have been framed this way. tl;dr: respect your mother more.
