I came lots [nsfw / possible [spoilers] if you're a super slowfag

So I love the Arthurian Mythos, and as I'm sure we all did, had fairly high expectations.

instead I get an annoyin whiny little blond cunt
who turns the show into 'Hollyoaks Medieval'*.
Also a crazy nun whose plots and entire dialogue is shit.

And a Lovely slut who at least has the decency to get her tits out
img difficult to find with wife sat behind me, I'm sure someone will supply.

Either way, it's a fun watch, and fuck Starz in the asshole for cancelling afer one season (and one delicious part of sorcery/incest in the finale).

Worth watching if you like Eva green's pert little titties, Voldermort's brother's excellent facial expressions and general badassery, Eva Green's fine tits,
and Claire Forlani as the most beautiful woman on TV ever

*not as awesome as it could be.

Pretty accurate description of what everyone hoped would be medieval Spartacus: Blood and Sand. I wonder why Eva Green is giving herself up for this shit.

Ok so what show exactly. And why is that blonde guy dressed like a leather clad faggot with a plastic sword and the nun dressed in a bastardization of nunnery robes?

Why is it no one can do a proper version of the (possible) historical Arthur? You know a non blonde Welsh Celt fighting Saxons? Hell I wouldn't even mind a Lancelot type if they did the character right.

We need a a television adaptation of the Warlord Chronicles.

    e.: HBO preferably.

There are a lot of different versions of the Arthurian legend and they are all folklore and mythos, so there isn't really something like a proper version. The last attempt to root the entire legend in a historic setting was a movie I don't remember the name of but that was pretty terrible on that account, but I do agree that you could turn the story into a pretty epic historic drama. Now that HBO has Game of Thrones and Starz is sporting that particular epic failure, nobody is going to touch this for a while though.

The show is Camelot, and instead of focusing on how badass Arthur themed stuff can be, it was mostly about the personal relationships / who slept with who and thus felt like a middle ages soap opera. It had good moments, but even most of the action was pants-on-head retarded. Merlin was the only good thing imo, but even then they made him less awesome by giving him actual magic powers he agonized over instead of having him be superhuman through uncommon knowledge and real ability Batman style.

There is also (possible) historic basis for Arthur that doesn't follow any of the conventional mythos (Merlin, Lancelot, Lady in the Lake etc etc.) More along the lines of a British soldier/general defending against the invading Anglo-Saxons of which the only "historical" mention is of his exploits at the Battle of Mount Badon. The only known primary sources mentioning historical Arthur are Historia Brittonum and De Excidio et Conquestu Britanniae.

I admit, however, that a T.V. series based solely on the conflict between Celtic Wales and Anglo Saxon probably wouldn't resonate with viewers more familiar with the legendary stuff. Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Trilogy would make for a great series however.

“Forbidden Tales” - It is time to protect people from danger in the middle ages, with the sexy bomb Aramas Feldina. Give her a sword, and she will guard any castle from sexual harassment. If some stranger talks without respect to her, she will cut off his head in the name of the King.

“Tales Of Canterbury” - Another great sex adaptation to watch. In this movie, you can see the things that were left aside from the novel. So, you don’t need to exercise your imagination, as it delivers just the right amount of fantasy that you all wanted to see, without having to read the book.

The story about Arthur is a mythos, like the Iliad, only difference being that we have different written accounts about Arthur and only one about the Iliad. This mythos has an oral tradition and roots in real historic events and persons, but it's not trying to tell the true story of a specific historic event or person. That dogmatic approach to history is relatively modern even though it was started by the first historian Herodot a good while back. Historians do actually call the Historia Brittonum and the like primary sources, but that is technically wrong and misleading because they are not first hand accounts, but give second hand knowledge about these events (and that knowledge isn't derived from any historic works, because such didn't exist).

It's hardly possible to ever clarify it, but it is very well likely that pseudo-historic works such as this are based on myths just as much as historical facts. The Historia Brittonum could be based just as much on the Arthurian legend as the Arthurian legend can be based on the Historia Brittonum (and both could, but don't have to be, based on real historic facts. This happened in Roman history, were they hardly made the distinction between Romulus, who is clearly a legendary figure, and a real historic emperor like Augustus - it's a distinction we are making today, but for the Romans but were a part of their history. It's probably best comparable to how certain Saints today are revered to, Christian treat them like real historic persons even though the accounts about early saints are mostly works of fiction.

So yeah, you're right about everything you said, there are echoes of history in Arthur, just as in any myth. It's however not possible to divide history and fiction apart and show the "real" side of the story. You can turn it into a fictional historic drama though, and it would make for a good show.

You're absolutely right. I fear I made a poor argument for excluding the more magical elements of the mythos.

You missed out Merlin, always forget his name, but was the guy from Shakespeare in Love and Flash Forward, not sure why he is putting himself down for this either.

I have to say the choice of Arthur is just absurd, the lad must be sucking director cock or something. Eva Green and Merlin make it watchable to an extent, but then you get fucking Hansel (arthur) on screen you are reminded of just how bad the dialogue is when it isn't coming from world class actor.

My advice, sack it off, go watch game of thrones for like the 10th time or whatever iteration of it you are on, until the new series of that or Spartacus is out.
