I might be blind and missed the thread about it, but if not, here's some info:

Started playing few days ago, if you are a Star trek fan, you shouldn't miss it anyway. It's ground and space based, a lot of npcing and storyline missions, you can do your own missions(and share to community) and apparently you can pvp also, but i haven't tried it yet.

I played a month and it isn't that good, it's still worth checking out but i doubt anyone will play it beyond the 2 months. Most of the missions are well made but the problem is discontinuity. It's also heavily instanced (loading screens between sectors, getting into a system then a further one for getting in the station if the system has one) which was very bad, it also had unskipable (or at least i didnt find out how to disable them) cut scenes when warping in/out of a system. The missions although well made were scarce i ran into a level region where i had no missions available and i had to do a ton of the repeatable ones which are boring as hell and some are bugged. As we're going into bugged in my opinion it had way too many bugs for a game released for so long, when i played one of the major missions in the early level was bugged and since then quite a few missions have been bugged (diplomatic missions, alpha trianguli encounters).

Space combat is interesting but it falls in to the WoW problem of itemisation, only a few loadouts are good per ships so you can't customize that much (the cosmetics department is a different story you can change your ship appearance plenty there). Nevertheless space combat is good and fun, the only problem i found was that pvp ques were very very long (15+ almost always) though i was only lvl 36.

As for ground combat they improved it in the latest patch days after i started but it's still subpar and boring at least to me, and the group ground missions are horrible what's worse is the fact that you can't invite more people besides the ones chosen by matchmaking so if someone leaves you're screwed and just wasted a couple of hours.

Very few ships, gay length of time to get out of noob ship and ground combat makes you want to fuck an electrical socket as it would be more fun.

Is your experience from before or after they added the new ground combat system last month?

It's better than it was, they just need to add more content more often and fix the Foundry which appears to be gimped atm.

I'm a Lifer... and i have no escape.

EDIT: I think new ships for the lower levels are in the works but for now; fuck the Miranda!

I play tons of violent video games..... and I am not a mass murderer.
So either the television is wrong, or I`m missing a step somewhere. 0_o

I enjoyed the space combat (quite a lot actually), but ground combat made me want to cut myself.

Played this in beta just before release and it was ok, but not really worth paying for.

did they ever fix the travel between systems or is it still a arrow moving across some jpg image of a galaxy? Did they ever fix PvP as well? all i remember from that was federation had a few massive advantages over the Klingon side.

You're no longer flying over an image it's 3d now, as for the pvp from the limited time i had we always seemed to win(besides one capture the flag battle where we were running around like flies having no clue what to do), i can't be sure if it's that or the players because of the limited sample but i was top in damage and healing several times so i guess it's the players.

Played last year I think for two months, and the beta ofc as were quite a few of us back then. Space combat is its very very strong point, ground combat not so much, but apparently that got changed. 'Warp space' between system felt bigger last year and didn't look like straight out of a comic anymore. Customizing ships is great, the visual part that is. The market is hilariously broken. Crafting apparently makes tons of money, but all I needed to do to keep me in elite gear for several ships at my level was scanning anomalies in missions. Always do that!

Did I mention that space combat was awesome? Turning your ship hard just to turn another shield side to the target, reinforcing that side as well, re-routing power between guns and drives to get the turn faster, sending power back to guns and trying to time the high yield torpedoes so that when you point your bow to the target, you get your full broadside. The combat is not as twitchy as EVE, not even close, but rather ponderous and slow. The intensity is lower but stretched over quite some time. With full death penalty that would be quite a torture to play.

Not being able to quit cut-scenes sux tbh; did some more missions and a fleet combat, looks and fells nice. Ground combat is too predictable and not really challenging , maybe couse im noob.

Im still waiting to skill up, buy new ship and then try pvp; although i searched for pvp queues (whatever that means) and they seem fucking long, like 45+ mins.

Would like to join some corp/fleet if someone has it up, could be more fun.

Currently subbed although I barely touch it. Space combat is nice. 3 main archtypes.

Cruisers: heavy shielded brutes which don't do as much burst/flash damage but can sustain it. At the end of a fight the cruisers will be up in the damage dealt ranks because they're like phaser garden hoses. Excellent for PvE but like Drakes, in pvp matches they are often targetted second or last.

Patrol/Escort: these are like Rogues. High amounts of burst/flash damage but a bit harder to fly. Flight sim/dogfighter types will like these more. All phaser/disruptor banks face forward with little swivel ability which causes many to make strafing runs. Their lower shield/armor makes them want to GTFO after unleasing their torrents of phaser fire and torpedos. The trade off being the MASSIVE amount of damage these things can lay out. A few of these working in unison can strip the shields from the sides of the largest cruisers easily. Fragility and tractor beams means that the enemy might take one or two down with them though.

Science!: pretty much the mages of the group. Dedicated support ships with a slew of buff, heal, and debuffs. Mediocre defenses and damage output but if they cast magic missile on you, you're toast assuming someone is around to take advantage of the fight. Love hate relationship with cruisers and escorts.

Ground game was pure shit at first. New patch makes it more playable. Still not the greatest but playable. Have my own all female kill bill VIPER team with guns, skin tight outfits, and melee weapons. They still derp from time to time but they function. Diplomatic corps allows for new diplo options during convos and diplo dedicated missions. Will appeal to more geeky types that think TNG was pure awesomeness and Kirk should be tried for war crimes. Crafting in the game sucks donkey balls. Standard template + mineral= identical item. In other words, not much variation. Market is in turn flooded with the same junk and economy is crap. While I really like the space combat, it starts to loose it's luster after a while.
