    Also: Space Fleetmarks

If you do the defend the transports one and leave before the timer runs out it doesn't give you a cooldown. So during double marks just leave with 5 seconds left and you still get the marks and can just spam it.

I have both the Tholian Carrier and the Tholian Orb ship. They are PHENOMENAL. Orb is probably the best healer now in game, Oddy and Tholian Carrier are close behind.

Space pvp in STO is epic. Good groups with complementing builds are exponentially better than lolkirk or pugging it. At the highest end of pvp there isn't much variation room, but that's less than 1% of the matches. Everything else there is lots of flexibility to try thing and play with builds. The bad part is cryptic pve development being so fucking stupid that they never consider pvp when putting in new shit. Like leech and lolerons not stacking. Or energy drains not having a stacking penatly. Or theta killing off all your crew till you die and respawn. But the pvp is really good and the mechanics behind them are fairly solid.

So I got the full Tholian set, not sure where the 60% resist is coming from, you'll have to point it out cause I didn't see it.

It's in the Lobi store. Click on a lobi, look for the Nano crystal upgrade or something like that. Costs 150 lobi. Worth every penny.

Yeah I saw. Unfortunately Lobi Crystals are all on a diff character than what the crystal set is on.

fleet marks: one mission to farm is the Nukara redshirts, but only during the event.

team up, split up and ignore everything except shooting the redshirts and talking to them. As every redshirt counts towards the team's total, you get 15 very fast. The more in the team, the faster it goes. With a team of 3 yesterday, was handing in the mission about every 90 secs.

Cooldown added, so no longer viable.

Gave No Win another shot, got to wave 5 with a 1x sci, 1x eng, 3x tact team.

I imagine a 4x tact + dedicated sci healer for babysitting the transport will win, or at least get to stage 6, maybe 7.

5x tact probably wouldn't work given you NEED somebody healing the transport.

  7. #1307
dedicated sci healer can't out heal the amount of offensive incoming dps especially since you have to dump loads of tank to go pure out and out healer those bio neural wh's one shot you. (i'm sci i've tried).

I suspect the only way to do it is to have everyone spam healing at the start of wave 5 while the dps and alphas are hitting then after that start whittling stuff down with pets/call in fleets etc

I've been bored lately, should I bother trying this out? last time I played it was beta and the PvP was laughably imbalanced.

fuck it, I downloaded it and setup an account, can any of the spacebros here give me a rundown of the current meta? as I remember it the captain didn't actually change the ship performance much except maybe a couple of key skills, does that still hold? My thought was to go Tac Captain and run a cruiser, is that viable? Also is it possible to avoid ground combat? I'm not particularly interested in it.

What captain you are means everything for pvp. It means pretty much nothing for pve. For leveling there is no reason to fly anything but an escort. Tanking is lols, AI is roflmao, and escort lets you kill things twice as fast and hence level twice as fast.

For pvp a tac only flies an escort as the DPS. Maybe have 2 tacs per serious groups if second tac is flying a dem galor. Everything else is science for space. Engi's are currently worse than useless in space pvp and have been for 1 year+. Ground pve is unavoidable if you want to level fast, but if you are just lolling around every so often you could possibly avoid it entirely. I level toons now by doffing, no missions or playtime even seriously required.

Also start practicing with in game macros. It's the difference between a really good player and a great one.

games not complex enough to require macro's for space combat

name one thing that a macro can do better than a person considering that in space combat 99% of the time its just a case of spamming buttons as/when timers come up its not exactly rocket science or massively complex

Pushing the little buttons was half the fun for me

That said, on a couple ships I did eventually bind a ton of the spammable/constant stuff to spacebar rather than miss timers. Mainly the EPtS and TT cycling

In case nobody noticed, Fleet Advanced Escort is now in the fleet shipyards (tier 4) and you get a discount if you bought the MVAE.

What do you mean by Dem Galor? I know what a galor class is, is dem some acronym or just slang? What ships are mostly used in PvP? From what I've been able to glean from the incoherent mess that is the STO forums it's mostly Jem hadar fighters and the new tholian ships right now. Are any Feddy or klingon ships proving effective in space PvP?

Khitomer Accord Ground is my favorite ground STF. Infected less so because of the respawning Borg in the last room. Cure can suck my left nut.

Thanks to Aristo I know how to train other people's boffs, so if anybody needs something, I can train any Fed boff, and can do tact skills for Kling.

Dem is an acronym for Directed Energy Modulation. On the Fed side the Galor is really the only cruiser-ish ship besides maybe an excelsior with a high enough turn rate to use cannons and DEM to chew through hull right through shields yet be more durable than a standard escort.

Bug ships have always been the best escort by a long shot, but that doesn't mean that the standard ships are unworkable or crap. They aren't. Box ships are REALLY good now because they were buffed to compete with the new ships that you can get from starbases, but until those starbases are upgraded the fleet ships aren't available. They will be soon™.

To recap, if you like flying an escort, make a tac toon. There is one other spot that a good tac can be used and that's a pressure cannon build DEM cruiser. Other than that all the other slots go to Sci captains. Healing? Sci Captain. Science? Sci captain. SNB is just WAY WAY WAY more valuable than the marginal more survivability that an engi capt can bring. At least in serious pvp. You can go out lollerskating pugs with a tac carrier if you want, and its fun sometimes but only for play not for srs bsnss. Anyone who has fought a 3 or 4 snb coordinated team has seen this.

For PvE you could fly a shuttle for most things in game. It would just be slow. All captains should be flying escorts for pve (with the sole exception of No Win) because DPS>>>>>all for pve. STF's FLY by if you have decent players in a dps heavy team.
