It's a bit of a "Get off my Lawn" syndrome but I fully agree. I'm actually half expecting a backlash movement to form with people starting to question the use of social media apps everywhere.
Or maybe that's just me doing some wishfull thinking again. (I swear, I have so many coworkers with their eyes glued to a fkn phone instead of making sure everything is running smoothly, it's a small miracle anything gets done.)

Instead we have todays situation where real issues gets buried in a tsunami of lies and propaganda by bad actors on a scale we've* never seen before.

I mean I don't use it but the hand wringing over it is also really unbearable. People go from "retarded social media" to "it's a civil platform, protect it's free speech" real quick it seems. I don't think it's a cure or a cause of any problems. It has given people a net positive in the end perhaps, but it's early days yet.
Social media isn't any worse than TV, and you never hear "daytime TV was a mistake".
