Surprisingly there is no thread from this... or I don't know how to use the search feature.
The game has gone F2P and G1 is running the show. I've been playing APB:R a lot lately, and heard about the change so I'm a little happy that I'll finally get around to trying this game. Don't know what the drawbacks or limitations are for F2P accounts yet.

Played a bit in the closed beta, was terrible then. Doesn't seem to have improved much.
Always a good sign when you go to a games web page and all it seems to be is a advert for the other games the company makes..

Crafting was the best bit in OBT.
Fights are bullshit and melee are op because they don't have to make ammo. You just tank, run up close and own shit. Realistic as fuck.
Controls are very wonky, played for an hour. I really don't know what to drop my AP into.

Has great crafting, and ranged isn't really that gimped (in fact it's not gimped at all since you can sit on a horse with a sniper rifle and melee can do fuckall about you). The problem is everything takes way too much fucking time and the controls are... rough... to say the least.

This was not in OBT though so i suffered immensely.
The crafting is nice. And they have completely redone the skills with the 1.9.2 patch. You get a free remap, if you have a character created before the patch. The controls ... well, I suck in all kind of FPS'ish games, so that doesn't matter to me.

No one played it because it was awful.
No one still plays it because it continues to be awful.
Got bored last weekend, hadn't played an MMO since going bittervet on Spreadsheets in Space this time last year. Downloaded FA and am playing at the moment. Quite enjoying it - nice settings, crafting is amusing, spelunking around the desert on horseback is more fun than queting. In every other respect it's a completely uninspired regular RPG grind that happens to have other people running around doing the same thing. I imagine I'll get bored pretty quick, but it passed the time and is free.
I've been playing this for a couple of days too, quite enjoying it too, and was pleasantly surprised to see a couple of FHCers in chat last night
Yeah, giving it a try but to be honest I predict all of us will play it for a week and then realize it's just boring repetitive grindfest. I'll try joining a faction to see what PvP is like, take a tour of the entire map and then uninstall it.
Enemy AI and scripting is atrocious. Combat animations are terribru. Combat is literally worst out of all mmo's I tried, with maybe the exception of some Korean shit I played for 2 days. Setting is relatively nice (yey postapocalypse) and I think it's a nice touch you have to make fucking everything.
They should take everything from Rage and put it into this game, or vice versa, and we'd have a good post-apocalypse game.

I too, was happy to talk to FHCer but then the client crashed and wouldn't let me reconnect so I rage deleted it and downloaded FalloutNV.
Not going to get in to the game hard-core, I keep dying and I'm only level 7, but it's been a nice distraction from tanks
Kills some time while the missus is watching her soaps.
You'll be disappointed with PvP. It's hard to get some, even in Conflict Towns, where the announcement of capturing the city for your faction is broadcasted via chat to everyone who cares.
