Remember Americans: the greatest freedom is being able to choose between dozens of different types of toothpaste, not the freedom to quit a job you hate without losing healthcare coverage during a global pandemic.
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

i wasn't referring to the cultural revolution or the great leap forward, but rather the land reforms.

they left that bit to the local communities by the way.

Maoist china is a mindfuck and a half, and a excellent argument against investing significant power in the individual. he was without doubt one of the greatest military minds of the 20th century, but that doesn't mean he didn't run China most of the way into the ground.
If you can't implement Socialism peacefully, I'll settle for the next best thing, a strong welfare state after the Nordic model
m8 people are still getting fucking murdered and tortured in Latin America for even a little taste of those things

You can't possibly be this much of a dork
I'm speaking on behalf of my own society. It shouldn't be necessary for me to point out that I endorse violent resistance to violent oppression, should it? You can't possibly be this much of a dork

Regulated Capitalism with a Strong and Robust Welfare System

I don't mind folks getting rich or having more than me.

I don't want folks having nothing or missing out on basic needs.

I mean sure, but if landlords seem to have it so good and have so much power they abuse... why not become a landlord?

Access to capital is not universally distributed.

Except that "Regulated Capitalism with a Strong and Robust Welfare System" (RCWASARWS?) is portrayed as radical leftism in most anglophone countries. Also, the very nature of capitalism means that even with "regulation" and a "welfare system," you're still going to have growing rather than static or shrinking inequality, and eventually that inequality will reach a tipping point where the haves can dismantle the regulations and the welfare system that protect the have-nots.

I don’t think either healthcare or education should be for profit industries. It creates a race to the bottom and shit service, with parasitic industries (health insurance, adult retraining) adding nothing of value to anything, simply grossly inflating prices by orders of magnitude.

These things should fall below the line our tax pays for and are provided, at high quality, to everyone.

You let entrepreneurs flourish on that foundation.

It is not about being richer or poorer or the haves and have nots. Its about ownership, opportunity, the relations that creates between people and how that enables and disables economic and social justice. The problems with capitalism are structural, billionaires as individuals are irrelevant outside of their personal actions. The horror of capitalism is not the boss, its the firm.

    Bingo.

Fiddling in the margins of neoliberalism will not fix the imbalance that exists between those who sell labour and those who make a profit from that labour. There will always be a power imbalance in that relationship and that needs to change. It's not about who the person is who's extracting that profit, it's about the fact that that person exists and is encouraged to extract as much profit as possible.
