Gambling does not lead to RMT or whales gambling their life savings away. More at 10 o'clock!

Long before he was actually banned, Somer said (in private) that when Falcon came in to replace the previous community rep, the behind the scenes relationship between Blink and CCP suddenly went from "we love your product" to "we're barely tolerating your existence". It seemed like Falcon in particular hated the idea of automated casinos and worked towards removing them from the game.

Maybe that is the real reason he left CCP recently?

I honestly doubt it’s just a single reason. Could be that along with being tired of Iceland, better pay elsewhere, etc.

They could have had a "we buffed Minmatar/ACs" week but no, they had to do this stupid shit (and forget they never buffed the Dram before nerfing all 3 Angel ships because apparently changing just 1 or 2 is hard).

Blink was shut down 5 years ago. Unless you mean just the time from the blanket 3rd party gambling ban.

I'm impressed by the absolute soullessness of that piece of text.

Just fuck all of it. I haven't subbed an account for a few years now. Friend that I roped in years ago was talking about jumping back in. They were suprised when I said I didn't have a sub anymore.

Maybe CCP should just offset all this by using that secret code from the collectors edition for a ~100 trillion credit in the blink house. Maybe with a current sub though? Just for fun.

Blink bought some ships in bulk, like the cruisers that came from FW. There was a stack of 1000 Scythe Fleet Issues in the director hangar for what felt like two years.

Stuff that was more prone to price manipulation was stockpiled. Managers would drop 20-30 in the corp hangar when prompted, and the prices for things that had high margins (for the sellers) like pirate faction ships/mods would be updated several times a day. But because manager coverage wasn't 24/7, and there would be gaps in late USTZ and EUTZ morning where there might be 6 hours where prices couldn't be updated within the system and more ships couldn't be pulled from the director hangars.

So the middle level staff would be buying stuff off Jita market knowing it was at a significant loss, but getting payouts and deliveries done quickly was considered more important. As long as it wasn't happening all day every day it was just considered the cost of providing good customer service.

Edit: This only applied within reason, if Jita was more than 15% above ticket price then you needed manager approval to start delivering them.

I was just trying to provide an explanation to why things like what Varcaus said could happen. It's been half a decade now and I haven't seen any other former members describe how Blink worked behind the scenes. Probably because most of the people who would know won EVE either immediately after Somer was banned or in the 6-12 months following. For a good percentage of the high level staff, the ISK was kind of irrelevant after a certain point. Daily operation of Blink became their main gameplay mode.

If you only know the most mundane details of daily operation, yeah it sounds really boring. But it was a far more mentally stimulating internet spaceship "job" than a lot of things you can do in the EVE of 2019.
