Math Rabbit. Played it on an IBM PC Jr. Now, where's my walker...

If we're talking first purely for fun vidya that I chose for myself, I actually think it was SMB. Didn't get an NES until much later on, but I remember playing that at a friend's house and being insanely jealous that he had his own console.

Possibly MicroType: The Wonderful World of PAWS on Apple II in school. Oregon Trail was for the older kids.

More likely Super Mario Bros. or something on a family member's Atari.

It might be Jet Set Willy or something else on the ZX Spectrum that did it for me.

I had both of those but I first started with the ZX81 and various nameless games typed in from magazines.

As far as Blizzard are concerned, I've played Hearthstone but then they obsoleted the older decks so I quit. I tried WoW but that was after playing several clones so it seemed really dull.

First game I played was Doom. First game I bought was Worms 2 I think. When I was a kid I used to save my pocket money for those games published by soldout for a fiver.

Mine was probably Testdrive on Amiga.
The first one I ever played: a game for which I spent 3-4 hours typing its listing off a PC magazine into a borrowed TI99-4A and then came to play ~ 30 mins before my parents "now, and I mean 'now' literally now!" want to use the TV again.

The first one (three actually) I ever owned as in "I obtained a 'decentralized backup copy from a friend': Loderunner, Wizardry I, Castle Wolfenstein for the Apple ][e

Now that game was awesome. Pick an alias, pick a teacher or staff member from the list of your teachers, pick out ammo (you have 1000DM to spend) for your Leopard, then hunt down that teacher on their way home. End up running them over and having to pay 50DM to clean the tracks.
Glad to see that they are still getting started early in Panzerkampfwagenland.

Recently, news that a guild named “GAY BOYS,” which consisted of gay players, had been subject to a forced name change surfaced, and now another player with a similar story has stepped forward.
    ---
“[Blizzard] did the same thing to my WoW Classic guild ‘Make Azeroth Great Again,’ which was just a tongue-in-cheek name for what was really just a social guild. We got it changed back, and then twelve hours later it was force-changed again,” he explained.

That was the 80s (when the game came out). Columbine etc hadn't happened yet. Imagine such a game nowadays.

To be fair to Blizz, this is generally how T/CCGs work. Most players don't want to play against the same cards forever and balancing the game around more than a year or two's worth of sets is almost impossible.

The earliest recollection I have of any video game I played was "Law of the West" on my friends C64:

    Red dead redemption 1985-style

Also "Colorado" on the Amiga 500 on the same friends computer because my parents didn't buy me a computer (The C64) before I was 10. Played loads of games on the C64 before that, but Colorado was the first game I played on the Amiga.

Possibly Moonstone or Shadow of the Beast on my brothers Amiga 500. Managed to get them started by myself as a 4 year old kid without a word of English in me. The Moonstone marsh monsters scared the ever living fuck out of me. Still brings back memories.

Year after that we got a NES and it was all downhill from there.

Moonstone is the shit. If something deserves remaster, it's this.
