    Deathloop

I like this CG trailer for a video game and so I decided to make a whole great big new thread for it:

"From the makers of Dishonored", which explains some of the abilities from the fancy trailer. Good/bad/soon-to-be-cancelled? Who knows.

Nice style and I loved Dishonoured. Fingers crossed Bethesda don't interfere and cock this up.

I nearly pre-ordered this a few times, but held off to see how the reviews land, as pre-release comments are mixed between "AMAZING" and "quite shallow once you get 2+ hours in".
    But i'm cautiously excited.

Edit: oh good. Denuvo reviewbombing on steam. Lots of reports of it running like ASS too.

Shhh, don't spoil their fun. rzr+v are having a moment.
(80-100fps here - game is good. i approve so far)

      Spoiler:
Not disputing that people are having performance issues. Much like with HZD and even D2 at launch, but this fucking tedious retarded "hurr durr i read because " is pretty dumb. as usual.

    Denuvo though impacts performance:

The thing is modern PCs are actually so good that the performance impact isn't felt as much as it used to be. But not everybody has new PCs and this coupled with various Intel CPU neutering following meltdown/spectre patches and what not overall you really have a high chance of getting bad performance.

I personally just skip anything that has Denuvo, I can live on my current game collection for about 400 years anyway.

Denuvo has become a marker of insecure games relying on release hype imo.

TBH if you are that worried, leave it.

I'm not going to insult your intelligence about teh accuracy of Steam reviews. Some ppl are fine, some are not which sugets an edge case, rather than fundamental flaws. You *could* risk it, see how it plays for 90 mins then refund if you are unhappy, but that's a bit dicey these days with overlong cinematic intro's.

HAppily though, the game if it runs well is FUCKING GREAT FUN. Well, for certain values of Arkane Murder Teleport Death. It's realtively forgiving so far, movement feels great, guns feel and sound good. etc. I've not got far enough in yet to confirm wether or not it becomes asine, but it feels like Hitman, done in Dishonoured, where MaxMurder is a good idea. Metroidvania like levels, janky trickshots and so forth.

There even seems to be a bit of grind. I love a littel grind.

Looking forward to the next LoopMorning when i'm going back to Town and murdering that fuking LARper again to see what happens. expecting it to take about 1/5 of the time now i can teleport, and know where he lives. This is the cool gameplay loop. It's not really a stealth shooter.

The music is INCREDIBLE (imo - very late 90's propellorheads vibe) and the graphical vibe is very on point. unsurprisingly it looks good at 4k/Ultra with the AMD thingy switched on, but that's aside. I don't think you need ultra graphics, as the look is low-fi cool ratehr than the cyyberpunk ultraRTX thing.

Assuming it's a fixable memory leak, then in a fortnight or two this will be wicked. Except for the fuckheads on Steam reviewbombing because hurrdurrDenuvo.
      Spoiler:
    you can't win them all

I am sure the Denuvo-protected game executable being 90%+ larger than the unprotected one and the game running significantly worse (keep in mind the top end back then was the 1080 ok) is pure ill-informed conjecture. I mean come on, the testing has been done, cracked Denuvo games run noticeably faster, let's just leave it at that - it affects performance, but not for more recent PCs where instead of 160 you get 140 FPS. But 40 VS 60FPS is a really big difference and us people with 2013 hardware have it a lot worse
