There're spells like Improved Alacrity, Nahal's Reckless Dweomer, Spell Immunity to bypass such limits. One may also combine physical attacks with spell/item uses to make most out of the one round frame.

    1 round = 6 seconds realtime
    1 turn = 10 rounds = 60 seconds realtime
    1 hour in-game = 5 Turns = 50 rounds = 300 seconds realtime
    1 day in-game = 24 Hour in-game = 120 turns = 1200 rounds = 7200 seconds realtime

There is, however, no initiative and order of actions is (I think) just based on where the speed factor would place it in the round.
And when you actually initiated the said action, most notable with wizards that aren't normally attacking, if you haven't already cast a spell in the wizards "current" turn and start casting something, it is instant. Based on feeling alone the turns seem to be tracked by character on the timings, and IIRC setting the "pause at end of turn" triggers at invidiual times per character, but can't remember for certain.

I heard the launch was a bit buggy.

quill18, himself still an active P&P D&D player (since 2.0), has gameplay videos on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8TU...cnSH-sXJECjSXV
Watched the first 2 episodes yesterday. The graphics look gorgeous. The cut scenes are worth watching (I typically skip 'em, if possible).

But the Ars Technica guy didn't like it: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/...dering-engine/

His main complaint is that you're forced into evil decisions/actions and that everyone in the world and your party hates you. Which I do kinda understand, but given that there's lots more story to come than he played, that might change later on.

He also claims to have oh so much DND experience but doesn't seem to realize it's translating 5e. Idk I'd take that with a big bag of salt.

The guy reads like he stopped playing computer RPGs with Baldur's Gate (which is, unlike what he wrote, not as highly regarded as Baldur's Gate II and of course Planescape: Torment) and just returned to it for this game.

The little pieces I have watched seem really promising.

Regarding early game choices: well, you are escaping a crashed mind flayer ship in the first layer of nine hells, with a growing mind flayer tadpole inside your head, and you expect there to always be good and nice options?

Played it. The game is incredibly buggy using the Vulcan graphics API (making the game a stuttering unplayable hell). Switching to DX11 in the launcher made it a little better but it's still godawful.

    I'm watching this stream:

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“Though Act 1 (the content for Early Access) is defined, Act’s 2 and 3 are work in progress. It’s therefore difficult to predict when 1.0 will launch. We anticipate Baldur’s Gate 3 being in Early Access for at least one year but we’ll have to see how it goes. It’ll be ready when it’s ready.”

Clicked that link, and the first video in the first timeline I clicked on (1:59:10) there is a gamebreaking bug lol

    Stop being bad

Maybe the guy is using DX11 as default but using Vulcan (which is the recommended default setting) is unplayable for me at least

It sure looks nice and promising though. But I have enough on my backlog to play so if this takes another 12m before GA I'm fine with it.

Also doesn't have to be all edgy dickhead dm level choices all the time, I can understand the annoyance.

I caved in today and bought it.
Except for a voice bug, couldn't hear any voices/narratives I had to activated Spatial Sound. No bug or errors encountered.
Game has had a few updated.

Just level 2 so far, and I'm enjoying it a great deal.
Maybe I shouldn't have picked a Wizard, the limited casting of spells before resting annoys me.
