Rewatched it. I think it might even be better second time around, or you can at least now watch it "differently". Really fantastic stuff!

My guess is that a lot of Chernobyl victims are hidden within all of the excess deaths that took place in the 90s. Also the threadbare government services at that time means there will never be an accurate accounting and many people probably got ignored. Very sad.
My guess is that you are so far up your own ass you are trying to attribute some of victims of emerging gang violence, hard drug usage and social support system collapse to chernobyl because "nuclear power is bad mkay?"
Chernobyl has been documented and revisited to hell and back but apparently if a show is dramatic enough it cancels recorded history out.

It was bad, the worst nuclear accident. But not nearly as bad as breathing smog every day.

Razor is right to an extent, China estimates 1.6 million premature deaths owing to poor air quality in 2016 alone.

It's a genuine problem and should be kept in mind

Chernobyl wasn't that bad, not great, but not that bad.

Now shut up and take your iodine pill.

I have relatives in an area of Norway, where sheep and reindeer still has to be given non contaminated food for a period before they're slaughtered.

    Thanks Dyatlov.

    310 Bq/L...

Not great, not terrible (actually naff all)...

IIRC Tritium (effectively hydrogen and by extension water) has a relatively short 'biological' half life; in that once it's absorbed it's eliminated in a reasonable time frame. That's compared with the likes of caesium and strontium which are readily absorbed and retained by your bones.
