I bought a half decent office chair for my home computer needs almost 20 years ago and its still going strong. It's had some minor electrical tape repairs and the tilt lock doesn't work but it's still comfortable as hell and I can easily do a full 12 hour gaming session in it just fine.

Maybe not the most appropriate topic, but wat do if the fucking cylinder keeps going down with me on the chair?

It was stiff as a whale dick in mating season, just started doing it recently and wtf I lost weight, didn't gain.

Any ideas on how to patch it up? I'm not carrying 18kg of chair back to fucking Argos.

EDIT: if you're replacing a chair cylinder, keep in mind they're friction-fit so you'll probably need a mallet to gently tap it out from the swivel base and maybe a pipe wrench to twist the top free from the bottom of the seat once you free it from the base.

Several literal gamer nerds I know swear by Secret Labs gaming chairs.

I used to have a real nice chair from a hair dressers that was primo but in time entropy and my fat ass claimed it. Being of poor I make do with some sub-99 dollary-doodle thing from Aldi & my next project is to either hack off the top of a rocking chair and attach it to a surviving metal chair base or make my own fucking captain's chair for my new office space - so basically my own opinion probably cannot be trusted.

Yeah I read about it, luckily I already have mallet and pipe wrench and several other tools available

At the same time, this chair is literally amazing and I'm not giving it up. It's a classic type director chair, unfortunately I still am overweight (albeit losing a lot of weight since January), but I also tend to sit on it with my legs crossed beneath me, thus the cylinder has to take all my weight.

Will see how it turns out, at the moment this day turns out to be hardware mode, so I'm prepared

Edit several hours of trying to hammer out the cylinder head from the bit connecting to the chair - that shit is welded there or something. Will employ bigger hammer tomorrow. The base end came out rather easily.

Edit 2: found the angle, placed screwdriver, braced and one hammer hit was enough to dislodge that piece of crap. Cylinder replaced, me happy

So this is the thing. Sometimes you should think outside the box. The best computer chair I ever had was a hair salon chair from a local place that threw it out because one of the armrests had slight fraying on the cloth covering.

It was like a padded throne but it had to get chucked out because I moved to uni and it weighed probably 100kg and wouldn't fit in my car. It was a rock solid steel tubing frame so no partial disassembly.

Markus is best IKEA chair. I recommend it, the design is superiour to their other office chairs, mine I can see is discontinued. Which is good because it was a fundamentally poor design for fat bastards.

Poland treats me like shit and I hate them as a result of it
