He didnt, they were never encrypted.
MD5 is the standard encryption used for websites and forums and it cannot be decrypted, forums simply store your password in encrypted form and compare this to the encrypted version of the password you fill in when you log in. If they match then you typed in the correct password.
Either PHPBB doesnt encrypt passwords (They didnt when i was looking for a forum package to use for my corp like 5 years ago) or someone modified the forums code to remove encryption.
Changed the password on my luggage just in case.

whether they were hashed or not doesnt make a huge amount of difference as far as your passwords go
its not really that hard to crack md5 hashes if you really want to
the only way it matters is this implication that CD was farming passwords or is massively more incompetent than previously thought

All we know is some guy on kugu claims to have the database and claims to have the passwords. The best we can all do is make sure we're not being passtarded and check things just to make sure, on the offchance it's true.
