I'm sure if I looked more into American football I'd like it more.
I'm pretty stubborn and can't get past the "padded rugby" part though. Each to their own though chaps, hope it was a good game!
i am jamiew0w, i am also Morgan Freeman

Yeah, the halftime show was very tolerable this year. IMO Cee-lo stole the show though when he started to let loose. But holy shit that guy on that tight-rope!

But yeah, was an awesome game. RL mate (rather hardcore Pats fan, despite being German, he even took up this imo disgusting habit of referring to the team as "us" which always pisses me off about serious fanbois) is gonna be pissy for a while, though.

Get off the rugby high horse and stop saying "This'd be better if x rule/play/skill was more like rugby!" and appreciate it for what it is (a slow, strategic sport) and it becomes a lot more palatable, even if it isn't to the tastes of most of the world. It's really nothing like rugby, and the comparison is a stupid one.

Was kind of meh this year as I wasn't rooting for either teams. Half time though. That really reeled me in. Wow, I mean that last minute was nerve racking. Those two receivers need to get some serious ribbing. Those two drops lost the game. Period.

Half time show was...ok. Was disappointed they brought up that dinosaur for some very meh dated music. Of all of the acts they brought back Madonna? I mean, she could have played some of her new stuff I guess...but then no one would have heard it. At least they've learned to let them lip sync after the disastrous off key performance by the Black Eyed Peas. Age is taking it's toll as some of those moves were super slow. But was glad to see the other guys show up and add a little bit to the show. Also, that tight rope guy. NEAT!

So... my friend bet 1500 on the Giants winning by 4. I have no understanding of sports bets, how much did he make exactly?

I don't know the odds, but I'm guessing if he bet $1500 he won about €3.

Edit: If he holds onto those €3 he might have rare currency in about six months.

What odds did he get? Then just multiply the bet by the odds. If you know what bookie (and it's legit) you can look it up if they have a website.

ie. if he got $7 odds he would have made 7x1500= $10500

Also, big Eli Manning pass in the 4th quarter of a superbowl, where have I seen that one before....

As a bitter 49ers fan (but not as bitter as usual tbh) I didn't even watch. The only thing that made me care about who won is that *apparently* if the Patriots won, Brady would have tied Joe Montana for some record.

Betting on the spread don't you usually double your money? so I think he won 1500. I won 200 off football squares meh. Halftime show was awesome, my favorite player dropped one of the most important throws of the game, I would fuck madonna if it wasn't for the fact its Jeter's sloppy seconds.

Good game, but not a great game. Didn't really have a big moment like the best superbowls in recent years even though it came down to the last few minutes.

Seriously though, the NFL needs to clean up the endgame presentation. If you're gonna have a hall of famer walk the trophy in can you preserve some of his dignity by not having everyone touching and kissing the trophy... I mean even some TV/Radio guy kissed the thing. I think they could learn a thing or two watching how other sports present trophies etc...

I watched the first half while auto refreshing the stickies on 4chan /sp/. All that hilarious rage and ridicule makes a nice contrast to the TV commentary. Every year I keep meaning to start following this fucking sport for the whole season and every year I completely forget.

I was raging at how they kept calling themselves "World Champs".

(Pretty sure only one country plays American football at that level, or at all.)

What game were you watching? Sacking Brady (int grounding) on the first play of the game for new england not good enough for you? Or Intercepting Brady, then the following shoestring catch by Manningham on the sidelines that queued up the game winning drive? From first to last the game overall was very excellent.

Being a (still bitter) Jets fan, I'll gladly take the Giants winning over his Bradyness. Patriot tears really are the best tears. Especially when the loss lands entirely on their shoulders for not being able to deliver in the last minute.

[edit] re: halftime show. I'm pretty sure the halftime show directors realized that if they didn't sprinkle in some newer and decent talent that there would be mass suicides before it was over. I don't really like Madonna, and was partially traumatized for the quick upskirt camera view. That said, LMFAO and Cee-lo saved it. World Peace coming up at the end was also insanely tacky. I wonder whose terrible idea that was.

Get out of thread non-handegg spergers. Go fuck off with rugby and soccer in your own thread.

That bit's not that bad. You can't begrudge a team a touch of the trophy, particularly given the size of the roster. What's shite is that the trophy isn't presented, it's handed over unceremoniously by one rich executive to another rich executive before the latter executive gives the most tedious of interviews. The de facto captain of the team didn't get a look in until three others had gone before him, and even then all they wanted to do was give him the sponsor's car. A trophy needs to be lifted and it needs to be lifted by the team's captain.

Worryingly I find myself totally agreeing with the Jests fan above , I think i should go shoot myself now tbh

Good game , exciting last few minutes. Horrible half time show , as my m8 said its like watching your mum dress like a hooker then strut about on national TV for 12 mins.
