Passive income itself is the problem. Here's a novel idea which conservatives seem to never fucking shut up about but don't actually believe in: working for your money instead of extracting surplus value and rents.

All this started when I told Keckers, who likes to tell people they're filthy boot-licking Capitalists, that he might consider that some of us might have less of a direct role in Capitalism than he does.

I don't think I've ever called anyone a filthy boot licking capitalist. You don't even own any capital. Being fat isn't the show of opulent wealth it used to be.

And if you are just a prole who has like 5,000 EUR savings and it's pre 2008 and you can get 5-6% on a savings bank account is that also evil passive income?

Indeed. If they were not-terrible at managing things (or at least putting on a show), they'd all be in the corporate world already and being paid far more, rather than needing to be a politician to get a leg up into the directorships.

I'm pretty sure a lot of conservative MPs end up in politics because they aren't trusted anywhere near the family business.

- vote Green or something similar and throw your vote away
- don't vote (same effect as above)
- protest vote for Trump (that worked great!)
- vote for Democrats blindly expecting them to be more left in gratitude. Most people do this and imagine that, Dems are barely staying center and Overton window keeps shifting right.
- vote for Dems but also be loud and active and primary then where possible and work again the party to move it left. Barely anyone tries this, those who do it are dismissed as sellouts.

The whole law, therefore, was unconstitutional, meaning every case that involved drug possession must be reexamined.

The consequences of the ruling were immediate. Within hours, the Washington Association of Sheriffs & Police Chiefs put out a statement that law enforcement should stop taking any actions related to simple drug possession. Pending cases ought to be dismissed, they said, and warrants for people on simple drug possession should be voided. The Seattle Police Department said its officers would no longer confiscate drugs or arrest anyone for simple possession.

“It is a very, very significant decision,” said Steve Strachan, executive director of sheriffs and police chiefs association.

According to the article only for future cases though, it cant apply retroactively so lots and lots and lots of cases are going to need to be re-reviewed.

What's more, even if lawmakers were to pass a new law tomorrow, a pillar of the legal system is that new laws cannot criminalize past behavior — which means there's no going back from Blake.

Because the court found the whole statute unconstitutional, replacing it would mean passing an entirely new law. That new law could not apply retroactively, however, which means the Blake decision will have enormous impacts regardless of what the Legislature does.
