    No.

I don't care in the least if you're offended by it, disregarding everything and constantly going "UM ACKSHULLY ISLANDS" and other assorted reasons for ignoring that they, in fact, did a great job is fucking dumb and it would be incredibly helpful if you'd stop trying. Same story every time. All they gave as an example is a couple countries that happen to be Islands or near it, there's plenty of others that aren't and did fine, but apparently it's enough for two so called smart people to just smugly "ACKSHULLY NOPE" and that was it. It's been going on since March every time they're brought up.

The "mystical reasons" is just a generalization of all the usual reasons you people find to ignore solutions proven to work elsewhere that somehow magically wouldn't work in the West.

Again. The UK is also an island.

Please, for all our sakes, just stop mate.

Nice find. Whether you agree with her or not, AOC is a smart cookie.

I like her. It's funny because out of young democrats the only other that name immediately pops into my mind is Tulsi Gabbard.

Don't confuse shadenfreude for Trump with sympathy for Biden.

And on the other hand AOC is a real socialist whose very mention made Biden lose Cuban, Mexican and Venezuelan votes from Arizona to Florida.

There is no Ostnost/Yugonostalgy among descendants of rich Cubans who barely made it alive to USA or among people who had family members starved to death or disappeared by Chavez and Maduro.

We Euros and Slavs underestimate just how much money was spend demonizing very word of socialism from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, and much had all attempted socialist countries in all American continents failed. Yes sure, good portion of cause of those failures are eternal air tight US sanctions...

We are talking about a century of failures and demonisation.

If anyone is wondering where Trump is, he's probably in intensive burn care unit.

Watching a bunch of people mass-reply to a 6 year old tweet feels weird, like necroing a forum thread.

Nancy Pelosi just called President Trump a "domestic enemy".
I thought the Dems were all about "Peace Love and Understanding".

Trump is a domestic enemy, and so are most of his cult. I mean, it’s not like this hasn’t been true for 4 years either.

We really need to get rid of the tolerant left image. Assholes just take advantage of it.

Wow, didn't know you can buy Ostmost outside of Germany. Their Apfelschorle is great.

Ostalgie/Yugonostalgy is fueled by the total loss of identity and the loss of jobs many people experienced after the respective countries stopped existing. That isn't true for those that fled to the US. The countries they fled from still exist and they probably are better off than they were before.

Highly debatable. If you "ignore" the general improvement in living standards on the planet in the last couple of decades, this really depends a LOT on individual experience of people from said countries.

Trump is enemy for republican party right now, he has the power to split the party in two, did you see how many votes for him compared with 2016?

Sounds like they're finally getting smart. Or finally feeling like they'll not be punished for doing so, take your pick.

lmao, what the fuck are you on about
Nothing will change as far a policies are considered. You will gain nothing. Zero, nada. USA will remain the same. NATO will be back in bussines hopefully, relations with Germany will greatly improve, face of a country won't be one of a orange clown. But as far as internal policies and reforms are considered if they contain 'social', well, you'll see yourself. And instead of Trump's dying industries pals, financial/investment/banking will become most effective lobby again.
Which is exactly what every leftist expects from Biden, he can hardly disappoint us when he is expected to do precisely nothing except pause the regression for 4 years.
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

Fair enough. Baby steps and it's still a change for better for the rest of the world.

this is more like changing the driver for somebody who doesn't make endless farting noises, the US is still going 100 miles a hour into a brick wall.
    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.
