That map doesn't tell the whole truth, as the nordic grid is also connected to Razorbroland so that we can buy power from there. Similar connections probably exist elsewhere between the interconnected grids. AFAIK Texas has no such connections.

The British grid is not synchronized with the Continental Europe frequency, but it is inter-connected using high-voltage direct current (HVDC) via the HVDC Cross-Channel link, BritNed and Nemo Link. In 2014, before Nemo Link became operational, the UK electricity interconnection level was 6%.[3] Similarly, the Nordic regional group of ENTSO-E (former NORDEL), composed of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the eastern part of Denmark (Zealand with islands and Bornholm), is not synchronized with the Continental Europe, but has a number of non-synchronous DC connections with the Continental Europe grid. Gotland is not synchronized with the Swedish mainland, as it is connected by HVDC.
As far as I understood the reddit comments, it's about synchronous grids.
Texas isn't connected because then it would fall under the Commerce Clause of the Constitution which gives Congress the power to regulate interstate trade, including interstate power grids. And the Republic of Texas, the Lonestar State, can't have that. Yeeehaw!

What no i meant you go MURCIA FUCK YEAH and drop bombs on people until the problem is fixed. Though the idea of plugging an aircraft carrier reactor into the grid is actually cool as fuck.
Bonus plot twist; Apparently the powergrid issue isnt due to everyone turning on their heaters and demand outstripping available power generation; there is actually enough capacity to provide all the required power but ERCOT decided to skip their winter preparedness inspections this year due to COVID and now ~40% of their power generation is down because *drumroll* it wasnt prepared for winter conditions.

"New Texas Tech Tax announced to pay for infrastructure investment"
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

Ah, schadenfreude, welcome back, old friend...Tesla CEO Elon Musk slammed the Texas electrical grid operator on Wednesday for being unreliable after millions of residents were left without power during a historic winter storm that brought record freezing temperatures in the state.
Musk tweeted that the state’s energy agency, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), “is not earning that R.”

it's going to be a couple of days yet.
reminder that they're supposed to be boiling the water, except there isn't any.
socialist bread lines! (or something)
this, incidentally, is why these are usually underground where it's cold, with only HVAC/HVDC being, possibly, above ground.
predictable really.
equally predictable.
uh-huh ?
predicting fatalities in the low hundreds from this, very normal scenes in a ultra normal country.
edit : and in case you missed it, the senator is on his way to cancun for vacation.

Viking, n.:
1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.
Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.
Isn't Texas like in top 5 richest states in the union?

No, they aren’t. They were one of the few revenue positive red states, but the republicans have even fucked that up since 2012.
