    Olympic Games right now

Y2K River of Fire, Millenium Dome or general Transport for London + British Summer weather levels of success imminent?

Did you really want to travel to London during this, and then deal with the logistics of surviving the day to sit somewhere for hours to watch from a distance, rather than catch many sports close up live in full HD with loads of stats + info + regularly priced food and your own sofa/deck chair?

You can replace "London" and the Olympics with any large sporting event, and the answer is pretty much always "yes, stop being retarded". Unfortunately, I've got no tickets as the way they handled applications was batshit insane. You had to apply for tickets, many of which you had an astronomical chance of getting, then a week later they'd take the money from your account for any tickets you'd won and only a couple of days after that would they tell you what events you were actually getting tickets for. There is not a big enough, in all honesty.

US will claim victory based on ordering medals won a certain way, other country will claim victory ordering a different way.

Typically US way=total medals won, other= most golds won

Unless the stats wind up the other way around, in which case it'll reverse. Hooray for sports journalism - why even bother pretending to be impartial?

political activists in the uk will try to hijack every event to push their own agenda.

opening ceremony will be a fucking embarassment to the UK. (personally I'm hoping for Morris Men and St george beating the shit out of a dragon, however what will actually happen is that the opening ceremony will celebrate 'multiculturalism' so we will celebrate every other culture but our own)

huge debate will continue about how the UK Government expects our atheletes to compete on the world stage and win at top level without ever funding or supporting them properly.

Sad but true for the whole lot.

We do have some very good athletes though, Ben Ainslie in the sailing, Chris hoy in the cycling. Some others whose names escape me, iirc we have a medal winning badminton pair too, no? All is not lost yet.

Well you huns don't have any culture so not much choice in the matter really. St. George was a Roman soldier from the middle east fyi Hunland only adopted the St. George's cross because they were copying Genoa and wanted the Genoese navy to protect their ships in the med.

(in before "oh yeah? well st. patrick was welsh")

expecting a boatload of epic fail, a lot of rain (fuck you people, making next summer terrible for the rest of northern europe) and of course certain athletes being arrested for "terrorism" or something silly like that.
