The other day I was feeling a bit low, so I went for a walk along the beach. I wasn't really watching where I was walking, and I semi-tripped over something, did that half-fall-half-run thing - luckily no one was around.
I looked down and there was something sticking out of the sand - it looked odd so I poked around a bit and it sounded metal, so I dug it out, and it was this metal jug - quite old I reckoned cause of the style but what do I know. Anyway took it home and gave it a bit of a rinse, and when I was cleaning the thing it started shaking and then there's this bang and smoke and all of a sudden there's this Arab dude in my kitchen. I nearly shat myself and was pretty sure at this point the thing was some left over chemical something and I was tripping balls, but the Arab dude said hello and called me master.
He could see it was confused so he explained that he was a genie, and that he would grant me 3 wishes for freeing him from the jug thing.
Now this of course sounds like a whole heap of shit and I am definitely tripping out, but it all felt so real so I figured what the hell. I tried the whole "I wish for 3 more wishes" and "I wish for unlimited wishes" but the dude was onto that and said that wasn't going to fly.
I thought about it for a while and then did my first 2 - I won't go into details but they were pretty regular ones - money and stuff like that. I didn't want my last wish to be something normal though, so I kept on thinking and then I came up with something that I reckoned would absolutely improve my quality of life - something that I think would be really useful in this day and age.
I said to the guy that I wanted him to give me the power to give the least amount of fuck; to care the absolute least about things it was possible in the entire universe. He thought about it for a while and then said cool, and with a puff of smoke he was gone. Sure enough I tried to care little about some stuff that came on the radio and it worked - I instantly knew that I cared the least amount that anyone in the universe has ever cared about anything.
I tell you this story because it provides you with useful context - because even though a genie came and gave me a magical ability to care as little about something as its possible, that power still fails to convey just how much I don't cares about the Olympics.
