The amount of 'Ree!' form the tories and their ilk would be felt in alpha centauri.

Unfortunately the Labour leadership under Starmer appears to be exceedingly timid in relation to 1) holding the tories to account 2) actually developing alternative policies and seems more infatuated with infighting amongst the tori-lite PLP and Momentum. Given how shambolic and corrupt the tories have been recently (much more than usual), a lot of shit is being allowed to slide for no reason.
Shitting up eve for .... well, longer than most of you scumbags.

Starmer has been missing in action for like a year. WTF are labour doing?

At least the Lib Dems are back on the up.

Starmer's primary goal was always to destroy the leftmost part of labour (call it far left, hard left, socialists, whatever). That's why he lied to the membership to get the leadership.

Right now the country is going through several crises and the only headlines Labour are generating are about Starmer making his position more unassailable by returning to the old golden vote system and making it so a leadership challenge requires 50% of PLP MPs to bring.

But thought Labour would become electable when there is no more antisemitism in the party? And there clearly is no more antisemitism because I've not heard about any of it on the news.
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

Admittedly there's still some transphobia in the party, but I've been reliably informed by the media that that's a good form of prejudice so that can't be the problem

Its almost like a political party needs to tick more than one box in order to be electable. Getting rid of antisemitism, transphobia etc is essential, but so is having landmark policies people can actually name when asked.

They seem very relaxed about the transphobia in the party, so I'm not sure getting rid of that is on their list of priorities.

And as for policies, apparently now is not the time for policies. I'm sure Miliband did the exact same thing when he was leader, with the result that on election day, people didn't know what Labour stood for. But what do I know I was just a member of the party for 14 years who used to enthusiastically doorstep for them during elections, I'm sure some ex-Blairite policy wonk on 80k a year knows better.

I keep looking for those tick boxes but I can only see one which says "Aligned with the economic interests of the owners of the press"

Loach was kicked out for supporting "proscribed" groups, because the purges will continue until polling improves.

The thing is, the purges do nothing to change voting intention, and might even be making it worse, because Tory voters go "well good but I'm still voting Tory because x, y, z" and Labour voters are at best mildly supportive and at worst very uneasy.
When Starmer loses at the next election, they'll double down even further and put someone like Wes Streeting in charge
There's a bit of chatter today about Streeting raising a load of money for a future leadership campaign.

A cynic might suggest that the proposed move back to the electoral college would make it easier for him.

Starmer does need to change the narrative around him and soon, he's got rather the stench of death about him. I'm rather astonished he decided to put forward leadership election changes right around the same time he's putting forward the closest thing to a vision he's released so far. That seems like a proper rookie mistake.

I see the government is saying that there's no need to panic buy anything because of some petrol stations running out of fuel.

Because that won't make people go out and panic buy at all.

I would panic knowing a dude called Boris at the helm. However i would like to shot a "I told you so" because i told you so many times that Brexit will be a financial disaster for Britain. I couldn't imagine that this would happen and even not that fast. The reality is Britain is fucked for the next decade at least.

Does a population have informed consent when that population is not taught the inner workings of its monetary system, and then is drawn, all unknowing, into economic adventures?

That is indeed a bit of bad 'communication'. Better to not speak of it all?

Yup, a few stations had no fuel now many don't. Annoying as my car actually is almost empty and I need to use it this weekend.

It's fine, we're going to sort it out. We'll sort it out by...letting EU drivers back in.

Because obviously they'll all leap at the chance of returning on a short-term visa to a country that told them to fuck off a year previously.

Absolutely it's not like they'll all think 'fuck that for a game of soldiers' and just go to Germany instead. Right?

Should be interesting to see how many drivers "bite", and then also when they actually get to start working after having battled their way through the UK visa processing swamp

Apparently Alexander Johnson only took notice of this potential disaster and acted because he was unhappy with the newspaper headlines

I guess if the rates are high enough, some at least may think of coming over and doing a few months' work for a year+ worth of salary.
