State Police trooper who cried foul over brutality incidents is notified he'll be fired

It appears that Carl Cavalier’s days as a Louisiana State trooper are numbered.

After going public with allegations of brutality and racism against fellow troopers amid a federal investigation into a series of violent arrests, the self-styled whistleblower received notice this week that he is being fired.

Cavalier, 33, received a letter from State Police Superintendent Lamar Davis that he was found in violation of department policy for speaking out about the death of Ronald Greene during a brutal arrest by troopers.

Cavalier had given interviews to WWL-TV, as well as WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge and WBOK-AM in New Orleans, expressing disappointment that it took body camera video leaked to the media before any disciplinary action was taken against troopers involved in Greene’s death and other violent arrests.

The notice of termination comes as Cavalier serves a five-week unpaid suspension for publishing a book under a pseudonym that details misgivings of being an African-American officer in a sometimes hostile racial environment. Cavalier’s firing is expected to become effective in 45 days.

The prosecutions case just collapsed. The stream is very pro-Rittenhouse, but they're all lawers, so I assume the commentary is not inaccurate.

Also note that the Judge in the Rittenhouse case was widely misreported - he has a well-known history of stopping lawyers conducting their trials on the courthouse steps and hence forbid both sides - the defense calling the men shot "rioters or looters" and the prosecution "victims" - from using loaded language and making claims yet to be demonstrated in court.

Also the criminal histories of the people involved are a warning against going to the type of protests that turn into a riot.

I hate the little fascist dickhead as much as the rest of you but the murder charge against Rittenhouse, or even a manslaughter one, is clearly not warranted on the facts. Self-defence doesnt only apply to good guys or people who are blameless in the situation. One of the prosecution witnesses admitted on the stand to pointing a pistol at Rittenhosue before he fired his gun and several witnesses have confirmed people were shouting threats to kill him, he fired the gun after being knocked over. That's open and shut and its over for murder/manslaughter charges.

If its not already a crime to travel somewhere you have no reason to be in order to brandish an assault rifle at a group of people you dont like in the America, THAT'S the problem, however. Letting people carry guns openly in public is fucking ridiculous. Letting them legally intimidate and threaten other people with them even more so.

The prosecution are idiots for going for a murder charge, it was never going to stick. What they shouldve done is gone after him for illegally possessing a weapon and brandishing. And then after securing convictions for that go for a capital murder charge; ie a death/murder that happens as a result of or in the process of commiting a felony.
