There's a handful of states that aren't in the red, and this snobby stuff is stupid because states generally have too much on their plate. Why do we have 50 separate programs and bureaucracies for things like medicaid, all with their different dumb rules? No clue, but we do.

So instead they struggle with providing basic necessities that the federal government should ideally be handling. Medicaid alone eats up 20-30% of any blue state's budget. And issues that have a stronger local context - zoning/planning, infrastructure, utilities, education - are ignored because something that should be handled nationally is delegated to states instead

But even in my no-income-tax blue state, we spend way more per capita on the rural red regions, providing services, etc. that are not offset by the tax revenue of those areas.

Note that I’m fine with this, I’m just tired of the notion that blue regions should be punished financially by the federal government when those regions are the government’s primary source of tax “revenue.”

Yeah not sure that whatever place you live where you are more worried about protesters than right-wing miltia is going to have as many issues as most of the country but all of those issues are major problems. States regularly have issues funding basic services because of medicaid, unemployment and tax issues. Most of those are large federal issues that have been neglected by the leadership of both parties. Or blocked by that waste of life McConnell.

These issues aren't fiercely political but are usually held back by deadlock over other political issues. Not to mention the Republicans ripping needed medicaid away from citizens in many red states, creating further income depression and making the state more of a money sink.

All these things could be solved by properly taking the wealth the super rich have stolen but instead we will get at best those issues becoming the forefront, and politized because that's our future.
