    SpyParty

This thing's been in development for like a decade (the ol' one dude dev team deal) but is finally coming to steam on the 12th. Last chance to grab it for 15 bucks from the official site (apparently it will be 30 via Steam, but previous owners will all get a steam key).

Basically it's an asymmetrical 1v1 with single rounds taking anywhere from a few seconds to five or so minutes. One person is the Spy, who has to complete a bunch of missions in a crowded dinnerparty setting, the other is is the Sniper who needs to figure out which character is the spy (player). Missions include things like bugging the ambassador, making contact with the double agent or swapping out some expensive statue for a fake. All these things have some form of tell, but with the correct positioning and/or timing a good spy can pull them off without being spotted.

Outside of being caught doing these things, the player can also be figured out just by how they behave. The sniper can lowlight or highlight different guests to help organize current suspects and ignore those who are proven civilians. On top of that, the direction the sniper is looking is visible to the spy in the form of a laser, providing another set of mindgames. If you do something a bit suspicious as spy, you might suddenly find that laserdot trained right on you, at which point you better be behaving like an AI and not panicking around like a noob or you'll receive a bullet.

It's an awesome balance of playing it cool - going over to a bookcase to read or just standing in idle conversation - versus pushing on with the mission before time runs out, and after a few games you realize how much depth there is both in the mental strategy and technical plays you can do.

Yeah massive The Ship vibes, except that it being 1v1 means it isn't dead on arrival because you don't need full servers to enjoy it hah.

Definitely think this'll be a lot of fun at LANs this year, played a good 50-odd rounds so far and it just gets better and better.

This is one i've been waiting for the steam release to get more people into for a long time.

Glad to see its coming finally, going to be headshotting some werkbros repeatedly in the near future.

Watched some people streaming this, it is a very fun deception game to watch or play. I can see it getting to a high level of deception and meta-deception games going on during a single match and over several matches.
