To some extent it really is.

"Gang violence" is an easy way to attribute the pains of a societal collapse to the people who are caught up in it.

Clinically describing the problem as "loose associations of people band together to fight other loose associations of people amid a collapse in economy and local services" takes all the bite out of the Law and Order rhetoric.

Most gun deaths in the U.S. are suicides, tbh.

I think you'll find domestic abuse related homicides are probably no. 2.

Oh dude, you work in IT, your analytics skills should be in DEFCON 1 when you see graphs colored in contasting colours at margins of a percentage point.

Has any analysis been done on the suicide rate in the US compared to other western nations? Does better access to firearms result in more suicides/suicide attempts?

The stats are available as rates. Brazil is still quite a lot higher than the US.

40% of cops beat their wives, take that gangs' firearms away first.

Wouldn't be a problem if the cop spouses had a gun.

Funny how only cops in english speaking countries can't be trusted with guns. This happened recently in Rotterdam and if it had been a murican or britmong copper with a gun there would have undoubtedly been bloodshed. (In case it's not clear, one of the turks laid out the cop at the beginning of the video)

Oddly enough I think domestic violence is a big deal.

Maybe squaddies have a different view on it.

They determined that statistic by surviving police spouses of course. Wasn't awkward at all.
