did you have to have a subbed planetside account currently to get auto beta or was it just at some stage?
At some stage works.
In PS1 it was pretty rudimentary. The aircraft were all VTOL and couldn't pitch or roll all that much. 90 degrees at the outside for sharp, high-speed rolls/turns, with pitch maybe 45-50 degrees. It worked, though, especially given the tech limits of the time, having to integrate up to 500 players on very large continents.
PS2 is supposedly much more full-featured, allowing actual flight mechanics. Obviously nobody here has actually flown, yet, but from the videos I've seen it's rather more realistic, without crossing into requiring a pilot's license to do anything.

Okay, so PS2 flying might be a little bit more realistic than PS1, but at about 46 seconds in I think I see Reavers powersliding around corners. I'm okay with this.

Anyone know if we will be able to use joysticks for flight? If this game gives us at least 75% of the joy I had with the first planetside. Then I will be very happy indeed.

The next thing I noticed is the full flight-stick setup on Higby's gaming desk, complete with foot pedals. Imagine my delight when Higby revealed he was using the controller setup to play PlanetSide 2.

Yeah, me too somewhat, it's kind of a pain in the ass. Tried going into some public squads and been getting tons of outfit invites from randoms, but even with me being a huge noob still it's obvious they're just super awful and shit. At least one of the groups i've been platooning with has a leader who's like a norwegian zapp brannigan minus all the humor; if we don't die within about 5min of the gal drop he'll order us to do something pointless that will get us killed, and do it all over again...
After doing that a couple times, I've just been running sniper by myself and repping everyone for massive support xp. TR seems very insular, though; NC there was half a dozen open squads, can't find any usually TR side.
Yeah, inventory tetris wasn't amazing. Removing it entirely does not feel like it improves anything, though.

Bleh looks like the PS1 server cant handle all the new players.
There i was, fuck butt erect ready to hunt some motherfucking dragons and i end up in a goddamn 20 person continent queue that takes like 30 minutes to clear. Ended up going into battle with a half chubby. Results were unsatisfactory.
Got into one of the poplock continents and remembered how cool mass Lancer fire sounds.
