Day 2 of the E3 event has finally arrived.
Ok ... how will this be playable without lag? As much as i love the idea, i fear that there will be some really bad lag with many players on one area.
Planetside1 used client side hit detection to offload a lot of the processing and make decent sized battles possible, but it lead to a lot of hacks as well. One of the reasons there's no ps1 trials even though it's a 9 year old game is that they've all been swarmed by cheaters making throwaway alts over and over.Originally Posted by Cortess

Yeah, they did have trials and the reserves in the past, but never permanently open (limited duration) free trials like 99% of the other subscription MMOs on the market to lure in new customers, likely because of hacks and :effort: involved to police them. There's no way to get a free trial now, for example.

fuck yeah pcgamer keyPS1 players, Fan Faire 2011 attendees and PC Gamer keys will have first access to beta once it begins.

The keys they've been handing out on twitter are the same 'high priority' keys as the PC gamer ones. PS1 players will evidently get in first anyhow, so you'll probably be waiting with the rest of us. Sounds like PS1 vet > PC gamer/twitter keys > open beta; they've at least said 50k keys went out at some point so i suspect it'll just be stupid luck if you get in early or not.
edit: Also, that tweet is from Feb. So, yeah, 4.5 months out of date. Sry bro.
Intigo: Reddit and elsewhere seems to think that if you're a PS1 vet you won't need a key, but i don't think anyone's officially confirmed that.
