Dedicated magrider fag reporting in. But could do nc as long as i get to cert jackhammer and adv. hacking so i can steal magriders. Also, reavers are NC exclusive now, yum.
Resubbed to planetside 1 out of boredom. Sad to see the population so low that sneaking an AMS into an empty enemy base and capturing it 15 minutes later feels like cheating and not valid strategy.

afaik the game is going to be sharded anyway, 6k per server max population...I'd assume you'll probably be able to find a server with underpopulated [faction] somewhere

Watching the stream I wasn't too sure I liked the map. But looking at the high res version it looks like it will be pretty damned nice. A lot of detail there, lots of terrain features that should make for interesting gameplay. Bottom right is going to be the place to be with all the canyons, should be easier to defend.

eh, a bit. It's 6k PCU, which means even assuming they do as well as EVE starting out they need ~10 full load servers (20 with some overhead) to handle 60-70k players online at once. That's not too terrifying.

Indeed. That's 4x as many as the old poplock on an area only 28-56% as large. If they all congregate it could get rather hairy. Or awesome. Depends on how it works out.

The map is also less open than PS1, so the combat should be much more close quarters, meaning the map may not need to be too large. May still be pretty crazy, though. I'm mostly curious as to whether they'll be able to handle 2k per continent on launch. I know they said that's what they're trying to get, but I can't imagine they've actually been able to test that yet so they're probably just speculating based on smaller tests.

One person per 2km of map space is cramped?
Keep in mind that the gameplay from e3 was 30 stations all fighting over one node with severely limited boundaries and they were spawning in FOBs specially made for the demo.
