While doing some work at my fixer upper I found this little gem hidden away in the cellar yesterday:

      Spoiler:

A friendly little check-list from the insurance company from fire hazards my grand uncle put up back in the day when the house was new-ush - printed in 1935

    At the bottom:

"Remember, every careless fire is a burden on the national wealth"

I should take some pictures of the basement of the house I live in. It has an air raid shelter.

Like a 'proper' air raid shelter, concrete walls. Steel door and the jazz? Or just an improvised one?

I can foresee a lot of potential only limited by a budget.

WW2 or Cold War era ?
    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.

The building is from 1905, but I guess from WW2 judging by some features. I'll make a proper post this week.

Would it be worth buying new sockets with integrated USB ports? They are not too expensive and i think they add a good quality of life improvement to the kitchen.

Why, are you suggesting we're a land of sex-crazed madmen?

The new units and floor look good, but wouldn't it have been smarter to repaint the walls before fitting them?
