Guns make the news, science doesn't.
    Six shooters ruined PvP.

Agreed. The game contains a similar level of anger about how things could be.

CCP's investors need CCP to be more than Eve. They'll use the Eve IP and recurring revenues to try to produce something with more widespread appeal.
This really does sum it all up. EVE does not have long-term growth potential; CCP needs to continue to develop other games to satisfy their investors and ensure the continued success of the company.

What those game(s) may be, we'll see.

So much this. I took it to the parents' house one year when I was visiting for the holidays, and they went and bought their own copy of the Danger Game off of eBay after I left. It's Monopoly without the excessive bean counting (ironically, for CCP, the anti-spreadsheet game in a sense) and you get to be much more malicious while also directing that malice. People like PvP; who knew?

It definitely has a significant RNG element. Though less so than Monopoly, since your actions can be directed to a degree and have more immediate consequences. The time complaint is valid though, especially for a 4 player game. Since you generally harm other players by pushing them back from the win condition, a vicious game can take a while before someone finally accumulates enough points to win.

Life is absurd, but with a little effort we can make it completely ridiculous

Maybe the investors should have read up on the company before putting their money in?

Investors are idiots and invest in idiotic things.

On paper CCP are pretty attractive. They just have a management ethos unfit for the modern world of technology. If you look at the figures for CCP they have a strong IP as well as a fairly strong traditional asset sheet, they have recurring revenues, deferred revenues in the form of plex and I'd imagine a fairly low churn of users. They're a company with a pretty great leveraging potential, they just fail so spectacularly when it comes to execution.

They need a specialist investor to step in and treat them like a child, I imagine their current crop are very hands off.

    Aren't you invested in a start-up?

I work for a bootstrapped startup which works with lots of other startups, quite a lot of which are VC backed.

There's a lot of really shitty zombie companies which exist simply so VC funds don't have to crystallise their losses before market consolidation.
