    The point is they're a tiny blip on the radar of actual use compared to ABCs and T3s [except for one lowsec gatecamping/hotdropping corp]

    Yes, but they are the reason you dont see astartes. Abcs fulfill a whole different niche then these ship and thus have quite little to do with them.

    All the CS are shit.
    The Sleipnir is not.

    Tech3 crippled them (since only rich used CS anyhow)
    ABC removed them from roaming contention completely via speed/damage/range/cost.

    If you're using Absos for triage, you're special. That doesn't make the Abso good, and that certainly doesn't make the Astarte worse because of it.

    The Astarte isn't worth using anymore because of the way its design conflicts with the current PvP landscape and player mentality.

    Unless you have a bigger threat on the field, the Astarte is usually one of the first to go down. It's vulnerable to neuts (4mids, no nos, heavy on cap), it's vulnerable to TDs, it's tank isn't particularly impressive (and is easily compromised), it's easily jammed, and it's slow and expensive.

    Despite all this the ship is still threatening, which means you're likely to be fighting out of your weight class. The tank/capacitor isn't big enough to do that.

    One ABC is an extra fuckload of damage on the field. That class has solely FUCKED tanking BCs because nothing can tank that much without serious investment.

    Long story short.
    Buy a BS or Myrm. Hell, even the Brutix or Eos are better choices half the time.

    And no, I don't give a shit about your capital support, pirate implants, or links.
    If everyone had that kind of support/resources, the game would be beyond repair.

    I never talked about solo (for solo they are all right of course, but cs were never good at solo even before that simply because they arent much ebtter then regular bcs), a fleet setting the aBC does in no way take the role of a command ship (which you know perfectly well).

    Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the main job of a command ship in fleets to be a high resist high ehp, moderatly high dps ship while ABCs only really do the dps part.

    Why would I fly this duo when there's the 1kdps Sleip with nearly twice the tank, and the 'only' 50% more tank Claymore's doing 7-800dps with scram, web too but also 20km range & an explosion velocity bonus. All for the price difference of a low end pith booster
    Also they have selectable damage types, no cap usage weapons.

    I'm using the SS rep & hardener because they simply overheat waaay better than T2, and they are cheapest faction repper that doesn't have worse stats than the vanilla stuff.

    I carry a medium can w/ 16 navy 800s, with 1 in cargo & 1 in the charger.
    18 charges from the getgo is a lot of cap on a single rep setup

    I carry antimatter as default ammo, but carry null (v useful) and void for when I need to hit a little harder.
    I'm also using improved exile if I need to pop a tanking drug, and sleeper drop when I need to track better.

    Yes, these things are woefully vulnerable.
    Yes, you *could* tank more with dual reps.
    Yes, you *could* run a higher dps setup.

    This is what's working for me so far, and sub-4s rep cycles are a lot of fun to have.

    At the end of the day, it's an Astarte and you're gonna be getting outnumbered. It doesn't matter how much dps you have or how much you can possibly tank. Every fight is a dice roll hoping you don't encounter a bunch of neuts


    You *could* do the same thing in an Eos but I feel that ship *needs* to use a DDA, so single rep tanks are compromised.
    Best to keep those Eos with dual reps :P

    God, reading these old threads is quite annoying, why did i even try. At least i was pretty much always right but how i found the energy to argue stuff like that with people who were that bad, uninformed or just trolling i shall never know.
