"I think we could all do with sitting back a bit and detaching ourselves from the situation to really think about how these issues reflect on our future and how we discuss them here and be a bit less aggressive or defensive because everyone has a complicated set of circumstances that has led the to place importance on particular issues and it doesn't meany any of them is less valid, we just need to look at the broader picture"

Clearly this is where you would want to cameo as a Star Trek actor.

Definitely deliberate. A delectable episode though, and a damn shame that the dame is done for.

Two ST doctors was quite fun.

Wonder if she was forced out so Patrick Warburton could become a series regular as the new chief.

Also, lol at Jason Alexander as the Guinan of Orville.

Warbuton isn't a regular. The new regular starts next week.

I had sort of missed that S2 was actually airing. I blame my streaming service, they had S1 directly so I assumed S2 would be there too. It wasnt. So its a pirates life for me, 1st new ep is...weird.

It's getting less intentionally funny and more serious as it goes along, with the odd cultural reference, I quite like it.

    Agreed.

This episode was basically an Enemy Mine homage, but it worked well. And the prosthetics on the space orcs are amazing.

They are still stumbling with the humor part, it's just cheap slapstick humor and simple punch lines.
No one has managed to copy Far Scapes insane humoristic approach to sci-fi comedy.

Is anyone even intending to copy Farscape?

    Doubt it can be done.
Would be very expensive to make such an alien universe for just comedy.

Would have cracked me up to have a plant/three person in Orville.
Spreading pollen and shit all over the ship.

Rygel would be impossible to copy, that character will forever be unique.

Latest episode, again its like watching actual star trek with the odd bit of cheese thrown in. Felt like that ENT episisode where Archer wouldn't just give a suffering society warp tech (I'm not bored enough to find it, but it was a good ep)

Also, weirdly. Jon Favreau was a Consultant on this episode

Every time Seth "I can't act for shit" MacFarlane starts maundering on about how much he loves Kelly I want to put my foot through the tv. It really makes the series almost unwatchable for me.

The humor is hit and miss, mostly miss. However it does occasionally hit and contrast well with the humorlessness of, say, TNG.
