I mean parts of Europe regularly lose like 20k people every time there's an earthquake there.

The whole point of brutalism is bare concrete. If you hide the concrete with paint or a glass facade, it's not really brutalist.

We also don't really see the brutalist use of mass and form anymore, at least not in the states.

    First, it is ridiculed.
    Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident..

    Maybe he's thinking about

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_L...ila_earthquake

Which was uh, 308, mericans aren't good with numbers though so maybe he's just retarded

eidt: oh maybe he means the one that was 100 years ago

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1908_Messina_earthquake

Given that Italy makes up like, 80% of all European deaths to earthquakes in the last 300 years, I'm not 100% sure what he's on about

double edit, that single quake makes up over 50% of all European earthquake deaths total, ever.

Normally I wouldn't go full "joe" pedant but wood is retarded

Wood is an amazing material. It's when you use what is practically drywall as a barrier that stuff goes south real quick.

Those pictures though, what a mess. I hope the people got out in time.

And now it can't be unseen...

Could be worse I guess. Could have been a toadstool.

This was last night, minor damage and no deaths, but a sign of things to come?
