The grey border surrounding every post is a bit too distracting, try going for same colour as the post box or inbetween that and the background to make the boxes more subtle.

The bookmarks/posting permissions boxes at bottom don't have red bars.

Move the online/offline icon off the name (maybe to the bottom bar of post box) to make it easier to read, or have it changed to make them more subtle (smaller or dimmer green circle)

When the yellow auto-save thing pops up while you're writing a post, it's unreadable - can't see 'auto-save' or what it was supposed to say.

For the thread list, having both thread title and 'Started by...' line of similar colours makes it too crowded, try darker colours for the second line. Or swap around the colours.

When editing a post, the text box goes all white when not selected. Quick reply box goes black when not selected.

white border on the Forum / Whats New buttons at the top sucks (.navtabs li a.navtab)
same with the search box (.globalsearch .textboxcontainer span)

submit buttons could do with more top/bottom padding imo (.actionbuttons .group .button)

i think going rounded borders would improve it generally, just 2 or 3px radius tho nothing severe but it does take the edge off vOv

agree with making the post and user info divs the same bg colour, looks odd with them different and the bottom bar thing kinda merges with the user info

The logo area is already pretty big, so I don't think it's a good idea to make it even taller.
The white borders are only on the left and top borders to create a kind of 3d effect. Without borders it looks bad, but I agree that the color could be better than a very light grey. What do you suggest?
I'll change the padding on the submit buttons, good point.
It had round borders and gradients originally, but it just didn't have that SHC feel so I got rid of them.
I'm not totally happy with the way posts look like, either, I'll try something else.

Hopefully, the borders won't be as distracting once I make the posts brighter.
Yeah, those boxes were intentionally left grey, because it was too much red on the screen, but now that the red used is darker, I can make them red again.
The online/offline icons are exactly where they were on phpBB, except that they're at the end of the user's name instead of at the beginning. I'll move them to the beginning.
I'll make the auto-save more readable.

Also, monkey, I'll change the admin color.

I still need suggestions for the background! Unless you like it blank, ofc.

yeah remove the drop shadow, looks bad imo
i meant remove the margin so theres no black gap
white top/left borders look terribad, trying to mix faux 3d style +no rounded border + flat colours ends up looking like 90's web design imo
yeah gradients are bad but subtle rounding is nice

dont worry about making changes if you dont like it, i'll userscript anything you decide against anyway

Where the option to receive an email whenever there is a new post in a thread, or a new thread is posted in a subforum? Subscribe used to do this, but now it only seems to give a daily or weekly digest...

Settings -> General Settings -> Default thread subscription mode
I made 'send a mail' the default value.

Once we fix all the little annoying things, it will be better in the long run. It's faster, has autosave, multiquoting, lots of customization possible and you have no idea how much easier it is to manage.

Here's my list of things to do:

padding on submit buttons
post background color
bookmarks, posting permissions headers
online/offline images positioning
autosave popup
make links easier to see
show name/corp/alliance
user color in the threadlist

and I'm sure it will get longer. Once we fix everything, you should have no reason to want to go back to phpbb.

You are doing it wrong! Go to Forum Actions -> Edit Profile, click "General Settings". A bit down the page you get "Message edit interface", click standard editor - extra formatting controls or enhanced, depending on your preference. That should set you up

Thx Don, it's getting there. Still 30% too dark (overall, or make a 20-30% all colours lighter version when you're done, also for readability outside) but it's not horribad. Buttons still look shitty though.

Oh and please disable quick reply, or let me disable it. Annoying as fuck.
